Get rid of Insteon and switch to Zwave ? Need help

Customer Service SHOULD know what they are talking about I fully agree with that.

They are probably not informed about beta/unreleased products.

Excuse me get your facts straight first. I "CALLED" them "AFTER" it locked up for the "SECOND" time (and it has locked up once more since then).

On 11/19 you posted to the UDI forums saying you had ordered an ISY-26 and it should get there in "a week or so".

About an hour later you posted up saying you had contacted SmartHome customer service and they told you it was not "not flashable" and you would have to "buy a new one"

Here's a quote from you:

CS told me that you have to buy a new one when I asked in Chat a few hours ago. I havent even received it yet I know its outdated and prone to lockups at times.

I'm not saying you didn't call them AFTER that, what I said was that you were looking for something to complain about when you contacted them and asked those questions.

I asked them those questions yes and that is looking for something to complain about? Those are valid questions about a known and documented problem that you yourself were beta testing if I remember correctly. You dont care about anyone else since you got the fix already.

You are looking to start a whole big ^&(*^( match again arent you. Take it offline and use my email like you have in the past if you want to have your fun.

Oh man, I think this is the longest we have gone without an Insteon bashing/argument thread till this one (though it didn't start out that way...) ;)

Someone in the UDI Forums just asked if the PLM Firmware 6.1 was OK as that is what they just received from Smarthome. Wonder if it is a Beta?
I have a new one on order from Smarthome. Will see what I get. ;)

I am not bashing SH. I just stated facts. I called, I asked, I was told, I posted. Some people just cant handle the truth as they say LOL. So they try and discredit anyone that says anything they dont agree with.

Oh well................... let the bashing be done off the forum and in emails if it makes him happy. I will even entertain him and respond now and then.

Take it offline and use my email

Sorry, Digger, but I've got nothing to say that can't be said on a public forum.

LOL aint that the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw you rip someone else today on another forum that disagress with you. Leave the guy alone. Just because your system works doesn't mean he is not having problems with SH honoring his requests for a PLM that does not lock up etc. I sometimes really think you are working for SH in some capacity the way you have all of this supposed inside information. If SH customer service doesnt know things how do you know whats going on????

Popcorn anyone? :-)

:D

lol - Who exactly did I "rip"?

lol - Yeah I know, you mention that all the time... I don't know if you noticed (hey - you must have, because you knew it too) - but it was fairly public knowledge on the forums that SmartHome was testing a beta PLM. I frequent a bunch of home automation forums, so that's why I knew. Why does a customer service guy not know it? Probably because customer service guys aren't trained on beta/unreleased products, and probably don't frequent the forums like we do. It's a job for them, not a hobby.

Actually you are the one that attacked me about how the PLM issues were not a wide spread problem and not the PLM's fault necessarily and how you had the "beta" sample with the increased memory and it would be a new product and not a "bug fix" since there was nothing wrong with it. How did you know they were not going to roll that out as a fix for the problems with the lockups when you hit over 417 links? I think it was back in late October or early November. And I know you will tell me how you are in the "loyal customer" list and have access to the beta products. Well I am on that list to and get the same offers. They never said in those correspondences that the memory increase would be a new product.

I guess I must have failed the loyalty test because I didn't even know there was a list!

Mike if I can be on it you sure can be LOL.....

I actually gave them some really good feedback and the implemented a few of the suggestions I made (got it in writing). Its actually a pretty good idea for them to get the stuff out to people with varying backgrounds of engineering, installation, applications etc.

[suttle hint] Guys, let's please get back on topic out of respect for the OP! [/suttle hint] :D

I asked him to take it to my email and he refused.... oh well I tried.

I will no longer post here but I cant say the same for him

Digger, MikeB I appreciate the different opinions, experience and advice you've both provided so far.
I somehow (ok it's not that hard) get the impression your at the opposite ends of the Insteon spectrum and that's ok.

It's still helpful to hear from different sides as long as we all get along.

Back to the topic somewhat : maybe I'm nuts but after spending the last couple of hours scouring the net for various Zwave switches and weighing my options in whether I should keep/return the Insteon stuff I find myself wondering if UPB is a viable option I should be also be considering ?
