    Thermostat purchase remorse

I've got the ELK-M1XSLZW and Leviton VRCOP-1LW+3 working well in my house, with very little issues of reliabilty. It's mixed with an insteon/ISY network of switches and keypads, so I can't comment on UPB. I use the RCS TZ45 Thermostats for the three air handlers (on three different floors), and...

Universal Devices ISY994i $199 on Amazon

For those looking to finally pull the trigger on an ISY994i there's a couple of places running sales:  Amazon and Orchestrated Outlet.

    RS232 over Internet

I've received some other responses outside of the thread, so I'll share them here.  It appears the best solution I've found so far is to combine a product by tactical software with a serial server, such as the IP2SL by iTach. Although az1324's link to Wikipedia yielded a list of other software...

    RS232 over Internet

I'm looking for a solution to remotely program devices with serial ports.  While I know there is general availability of products like the iTach products that allow local access of the port, does anyone know of an elegant solution that I redirect a program running on a PC to the iTach across the...

    HVAC Frustration. Need Advice

ANO,   If you haven't pulled the trigger yet, give http://emme-inc.com/ a look.  Our angel group invested in these guys, while they don't have home automation hooks yet, they will at some point. Their system is WIFI currently. Their room-by-room solution is slick.   Mike

    ELK Zwave as secondary controller

I posted a question in the automation forum, but realized I should have posted it here.   http://cocoontech.com/forums/topic/23987-elk-zwave-secondary-controller/   Any thoughts?

    Elk Zwave - Secondary Controller

Has anyone used the ELK + Leviton VRC0P+3 as a secondary controller?  Now that I'm using my ISY as the primary for Zwave, I'm wondering if I can continue to use my ELK Zwave but place it in secondary mode.  This would allow me to use my ELK keypads to directly address thermostats.

    ISY994i Z-Wave

Was away for a week, just got back and was able to start testing the ISY994i with Zwave.  It's really a slick solution. Added thermostats and was up and running within minutes. While I haven't tested competing solutions (vera, etc.) I have worked with the leviton vrc0p+3 with the usb stick +...

    ISY994i Z-Wave

It's officially announced.  Universal-Devices ISY994i series is z-wave enabled!   http://www.prweb.com/releases/2013/1/prweb10355651.htm   I'm anxiously awaiting my alpha release to get my hands on this solution.   Mike   P.S.> I'm a universal devices developer and dealer, thus under NDA. I'll...

Alternative to Logitech Harmony remote control

I'm wrestling with the WAF factor on remotes and frankly think I'll be moving back to a 'button' remote quickly. I've tried Roomie and iRule based solutions for iOS and while very robust I still get the 'look' when I hand her the iPad to control netflix.. "because nothing else does it"...

[Article] Universal Devices announces the ISY-994i ZS Series Z-Wave controller

CocoonTech Member (and Universal Devices developer) Mike-ma shared the announcement of Universal Devices now offering a Z-Wave controller, similar to their popular INSTEON ISY-99 controller.   The price is rather high, especially once you add support for various popular components (e.g., ELK)...

    Elk M1 and Zwave Sensors

I was reviewing the M1XSLZW instruction manual and couldn't find reference to using zwave sensors. Does anyone know if the M1 supports adding other sensors using the XSL+VRC0P+3?   There's a whole host of sensors now available (specifically from Aeon Labs) and I'm wondering if they can be used...

M1XSLZW - loss of ZWave control

I've had the XSLZW+VRC0P for about 4 months without issue. I installed a 2GIG CT100 on my network and it wasn't responding correctly (mirroring commands), after a call to my friendly distributor I found out that the VRC0P had a firmware update in Nov(?) to fix a couple of issues, and the CT100...

Recommend a current alternative for VRC0P?

Just to make sure we're clear on your intentions, you can't program Zwave devices with the Elk (add, update, etc.) You have to use the leviton USB installation stick. If you're saying you want to write programs to control the elk, you can use the ISY, however the elk module doesn't control...

    ISY99

Right, even solutions like mobilinc won't let you edit, only view. It would be difficult to do it on your iPhone, even with cloudbrowse app, as it's just too small to work within. You could open it up to remote admin and do it at work :o

Various 312mhz sensors - looking for suggestions

Ok, now I understand your point. I was thinking about the sensor devices not the specialized endpoints. I was simply saying a flood detector or PIR combined with the MCR-308 will provide contact closure to a panel - as if it was hard wired. While there is a market for the dial out emergency...

Various 312mhz sensors - looking for suggestions

I'm not sure if you had a chance to look at the links but it looks like the MCR-308 receiver takes care of all of the issues you are talking about, it's a supervised superheterodyne wireless receiver. Still think it's not worth it? Essential Info The MCR-308 is a superheterodyne receiver...
