Yeah, I've heard through the rumor mill that prices on the large plasma screens will be dropping dramatically this fall. I heard about 30%. We'll see.

Called up sharp. First cr rep was like, dont buy it, they aren't authorized. When I talked to someone more technical, they were like as long as its not bstock, refurb, they dont care.
But now, I am seriously looking at how much $1300 is and I think that wouldn't be a wise investment for a college grad just starting to work. Now I think I will look at sets $700 or less out the door. Circuit city has an EDTV sharp aquos 20" 4:3 for $617. I would really like to have 1080i for use for gt4 on my ps2. But overall, I would think 1080i would be a better investment even if the native screen is a 4:3...no? Oh well, dunno if I should look at any of the no name brands, or bite the bullet with a crt...

Insignia is Best Buy's private label, and trust me they are not going to be taking risks as far as quality is concerned. They test this stuff way more carefully and are very careful about anything they launch. They're still trying to build the rep for the label.
Specs are v good. Also, don't forget that for the best in color reproduction CRTs still look better than anything else, particularly for gaming.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was eyeballing that lt27hv at compusa, but I came across a different model from syntax. LT26HVE. Only difference is a 1" smaller screen, 15:9, 1 piece instead of detattachable speakers, BUT it has two HD component inputs on it versus the one on the other. That was worth more to me, and I had a feeling fry's would advertise it for a good price, so I just picked it up this morning for $699 without any rebates.
