New HAI thermostat, upgrade?

I have an HAI system including security, thermostat control for the house. The thermostat is the older model, not the new RC1000/2000. I understand the new series has some smart way to optimize the use of heat/cool, is it worth to upgrade?

We have a few rooms that could use better air flow so keeping the fan on longer will help circulate the air, but I don't want the fan to run 24x7. It seems the new thermostat can cycle the fan better than the older model?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If you are still using HomeSeer why not simply use this to turn the fan on and off as needed?

I just leave my fan on 24/7. I have for the past 8 years. It keeps the air moving and I have virtually no dust. I've also found that the AC and heat tend to turn on a bit less. The downside is that you go through filters pretty fast. I've resorted to buying industrial filters instead of being ripped off for $25 for those 4" thick ones. They're still about $10 each, but they work just as well and have the same ratings.

The OmniStat2 are nice and they even have a motion detector in them. Are they worth it? That's really up to you, but they are pretty pricey. I myself haven't upgraded yet, but I thinking about trying one.

I keep my furnace fan running 24/7 also. I hear the speeds change when calling for AC/Heat. I got tired of replacing the larger filters so replaced the filter with an electronic one. It uses two sets of washable filters. The charcoal set I replace about every 4-5 months or so.

I like the features of the Omnistat 2 and most likely would tie it into my humidifier in the MW which today has no connections to the panel nor old OmniStat. Wondering though how it would function in FL with a humidistat?

The thermostat does have a cycle fan mode. However, it seems to me the best way to do this would be to write rules for your controller to change the fan mode back and forth between auto and on, as you want it. This way you have a lot more flexibility than just using the fixed cycle built into the thermostat.

The RC1000/2000 do have new features for "tuning" the responsiveness of the thermostat to the space that it's in. I haven't quite got mine dialed in yet, but I can already tell that the spaces controlled by the new thermostats are more comfortable then they were with the old thermostats, and there doesn't seem to be any negative impact to our utility bill.
