How do I connect my OmniLT to use a mobile app for local and remote access to the controller board? SOLVED

I am a new member of the group. I own an OmniLT system V 2.14 since Feb 2007. Recently, FIOS upgraded my ONT box to the latest version and now the system will not pick up outside calls for remote access. (Ring once or twice, hang up, wait 10-20 seconds, ring again). The remote access was fine until this change. It does work for local modem access on my phone line when I press #. I also have dealer PC Access software and use a PC modem to connect to PC Access.

I want to try an establish a connection using an ethernet cable to my router.

I read several posts and used the knowledge base in ChatGPT and did the following:

  1. Ran a CAT6 100 ft cable from the ASUS router to the location of the HAI enclosure
  2. Purchased a tested working Latronix UDS1100 RJ-45 to DB-25
  3. Connected a 4 wire ‘phone cable” to the RJ-11 port on the Omni LT.
  4. Made an adapter with an RJ-11 on one end and DB-25 on the other end based on the wiring diagram in the OmniLT installation manual. (see attached). Note the RX and TX are crossed over. Tested with DMM and all connections are good.
  5. Configured the UDS1100 per ChatGPT using Port 4369, and allowing for 2-way communication, the Baud Rate is 9600, 8 data bits, parity none, 1 stop bit; IF mode 4C, Connect mode C0, Flow 00. Set the UDS1000 IP address on the router to a static address 192.168.2.94
  6. I tested Port 4369 while my phone was on my local Wi-Fi (same Wi-Fi as the Latronix) using canyouseeme.com and the test was successful.
  7. Also was able to connect to the UDS1000 (my local IP 192.168.2.94) using Telnet (on the UDS1000 device installer Windows program) and from Command Prompt and the UDS menu loads.
  8. Reset the UDS1100 after each test to make sure the connection was closed before the next test.
  9. Installed the Leviton Snaplink apk v 2.1.6 from a link on the forum installed in on my Samsung android phone but when I enter in the information and point to 192.168.2.94 and request retrieve setup. I keep getting “Incorrect Information”
  10. I tried SnapLink Mobile by Phung Le Uyen but when trying to retrieve setup, I get a connection timeout

What should I do next?

Note: My OmniLT does not support the AES encrypted Omni-Link Protocol. Is that why these apps do not work? ChatGPT states if I can find an old HAI snaplink version 1.6 APK I can user that and it will work but I can't find it on the web.

Hmmm does a OmniLT even have ethernet? That could create a problem connecting remotely. Maybe you could swap the board with an LTe. As for VoIP working on the phone line, its hit-or-miss. Sometimes it will work, sometimes not. Did you try reversing the two lines.

No ethernet on th eOmni LT. I have not messed with the phone lines but the waveform and ring voltage put out by the FIOS ONT box may not be sufficient to wake up the HAI system. There are modifiers and voltage amplifiers that can address this but they are hot or miss. I think I will try the HomeTroller Pi from Homeseer whiich can work on systems like mine that do not have AES encryption.

You should look at Home Assistant. Open source, but you can buy pre-build systems. You might want to consider that over Homeseer, which is not open source.

The reason you get "incorrect information" in step 9 is the OmniLT does not have the encryption keys that SnapLink is looking to authenticate against.

Please take a picture of your OmniLT board and post it.

Homeseer 3-4 and Home Assistant do not communicate via a serial link. Homeseer 2 did communicate via a serial link.

Hi Pete,

Thanks for your reply.
My plan is to connect an ethernet cable to my router and use a Latronix UDS1100 listening in on Port 4369 with a static IP. Then the DB-25 on the UDS1100 connects with adaptors rossing over pins 2 and 3 to the RJ-11 port at the top left of the omniLT board. The HomeTroller Pi also connects by ethernet to the same router. After I set up the desktop version of HS4 and add the Omni plug-in, I can download the mobile version HomeSeer and when I log in it recognizes the plug-in. I will use the mobile version, it send commands to the cloud which then go to the HomeTrolller Pi. This then connects by TCP to Port 4369 to my HAI and executes the commands, and no AES encryption is used. So this should work with Omni LT V 2.14 Board photos attached. There is an expansion board on top of the LT board and a 2-way voicee module inside the eiclosure.

Compatibility Overview

ComponentCompatible with HS4?Notes
HAI Omni Plug-in✅ YesOfficial HomeSeer plug-in, works with HS4 Standard, Pro, and Pi
HomeTroller Pi✅ YesComes preloaded with HS4-Pi and includes the HAI plug-in license
OmniLT (firmware 2.14)✅ YesHAI plug-in uses standard protocol, no AES required
UDS1100 (port 4369)✅ YesAny TCP port is fine — just match it in plug-in settings
HomeSeer Mobile App✅ YesFully supported with HS4 and HS4-Pi via MyHS cloud.

Hello @bobgto65 . Welcome to the Cocoontech forum.

The serial port will not communicate with Homeseer 3 or 4 and Home Assistant. Both Omni plugins / add ons only communicate via the Ethernet port on the Omni boards. (not serial to ethernet). Leviton Snaplink apk v 2.1.6 will only work with a direct Ethernet connection to an Omni Board.

You can communicate with PCA (PC Access) via a serial link. The old Homeseer 2 HAI add on does communicate via a serial link. I was using it up until I moved and disconnected my panel. You may be able to purchase an old Homeseer 2 box with embedded XP that will work with your panel.

The Omni LTe board does have an Ethernet port which you can use with Homeseer 4 or Home Assistant.

Here is one on Ebay for $292 USD.

Thanks Pete,

I know the LTe board is newer. I am going to give this some consideration. I willl post a follow-up next week.

Thanks,
Bob

You could also consider an Omni2e or OmniProII. Whichever happens to be on ebay when you look. They all have ethernet ports and the same form factor.

I bought an Omni LTe board for the ethernet connectivity but now I see that it does not include audio capabilities so except for the tone on the console, there is no sound in the house if the alarm is tripped. My Omni LT had a separate audio board connected to a speaker that can be heard throughout the house and also gave audio as to what type of alarm it is. Any suggestions?

Good news @bobgto65 !!!!

By default there are chirps coming from the keyboard consoles. I think that you can connect the audio board from the OmniLT to the OmniLTe.

The OmniPro audio board gives you some speech.

Leviton Omni 2-Way Voice Module (10A11-1)

Here utilize the built in speech with Homeseer and or Home Assistant. I collect Microsoft SAPI voice fonts here and today utilize Google voice with Home Assistant.
