I tried a search on power steal and control 4 and did not get any relevant hits.
Can anyone give me advice on a control 4 thermostat power steal question? I started working p/t with a audio/video guy. Installed a control 4 system at a clients home. Cool stuff. We hooked up a thermo to a 2 wire heat system. It is a gas fired baseboard heat system. It was totally running off the battery. We tried hooking up a 3rd wire to the common terminal on the relay board and had mixed results. For some reason the thermos run OK while heat is OFF and runs off battery when Heat is ON. Control 4 said switch RH terminal with W1 terminal and that would switch the battery results. Does this thermo need to run off battery power? We tried switching the common terminal to the 24VAC terminal. Same mixed results. Tonight the client called and said the whole audio system was down, so the boss is on a service call. I figured I would check with you guys.
