Problems with Connecting the Elk Two Way Transceiver on a Retrofit Data Bus Hub

@RAL sorry don't think i did not see all this.  i ditched the retrofit for the normal DBH and went that way and all worked first run.  had to restrain my OCD need to figure out the problem and just drive around it this time.  thanks.

ELK-M1XIN 16 zone expander on a M1DBH Data Bus Hub

re: two way.  agreed.  would not get it again - don't see any meaning full difference or advantage other than all-ring FDs.

    Zone Reporting Delay on M1XIN

good point.   opening and closing zones reports right away on RP status screen. i'm guessing it's semi-normal then.   thanks

    Zone Reporting Delay on M1XIN

ELK M1 with M1XIN expander.   I have two zones connected to the M1XIN which in turn is connect to the M1DBH   when i start up the M1 (Power On) the two zones report as violated for about 120 seconds  then they report properly as CLOSED (normal) any idea why the initial delay. to date this has...

    Using Existing Wiring

@DEL to reassure you, i've EOLed most of the wiring and all the wiring i cannot specifically track down/identify.    so far it's taken care of all the doors which is good and a number of motion sensors.  this was never going to be a reuse of all existing. just at least some. the temp sensor is...

ELK-M1XIN 16 zone expander on a M1DBH Data Bus Hub

    1) if a M1DBH data bus hub exists to which all the keypads are run, does the M1XIN 16 zone expander connect to a) the control using 4 wire or b) to the M1DBH with ethernet plug wired up?   2) if a ELK-M1XRFTW Two-Way Wireless Transceiver is on the system connected from Zone 17 onwards, can i...

Found a two wire circuit that is labeled FREEZE

@wkearney99:  its a trick to flesh out the dyslexics from a dyslexic ;)

@RAL thanks very much.  glad to hear what i am seeing with trial and error makes sense.

    ipDataTel Connection

howdy.  what advanced functionality do you lose going to the elk M1? looks like only 2 wire phone hookup like POTS.     how does alarm relay get hooked up to ethernet?  through the M1XEP?

Found a two wire circuit that is labeled FREEZE

howdy.  sorry.  looks like low voltage 2 wire.  stranded 20-22 AWG probably   yeah i'm guessing the same.  i'm just not visualizing what sensor would have been at the end of this?  currently don't see anything in the room and can't tone/probe my way to anything in the room either.  using a fluke.

    ISY994 and Elk module

Had a ISY99 for years New house, new system so got a ISY994   1) when i go to configuration there is a section to enter your ELK IP address and access code, JUST LIKE THE ISY99 2) however, there is a PAID ELK module available for purchase, in purchase modules  ...

    Using Existing Wiring

thanks RAL let me clarify about TONE   1) per the videos and instructions i am MOSTLY using the tone generator by tying one alligator clamp onto one of the circuits (usually red alligator) and leaving the second one (black alligator) loose or fixed onto a ground cable i have going into the...

Found a two wire circuit that is labeled FREEZE

trying to reuse 30 year old wiring coming into a basement JB with poor labelling several of the circuits are labelled LIBRARY FREEZE and KITCHEN FREEZE what would these be?  i'm assuming some kind of low temp sensor but where physically would they be (don't see anything on the walls/ceilings)...

    Using Existing Wiring

thanks to DEL and RAL and everyone have been making good progress re-using existing wiring and topping off with new elements (new MS, GB) as well. the process has been helped by almost illegible scrolls on the old JB which i have been deciphering. feels like archeology in egypt.  anyway   by the...

Problems with Connecting the Elk Two Way Transceiver on a Retrofit Data Bus Hub

    1) ABOUT = Connect the DBHR up to the M1 again, with a jumper on JP3 on the M1 and JP1 on the DBHR.  Connect just the one keypad to branch 1, with a jumper on the keypad and a jumper on JP2, and no jumper on JP3, JP4, JP5.   that DID NOT WORK funnily and bizarrely to me it DOES work on the DBHR...

Problems with Connecting the Elk Two Way Transceiver on a Retrofit Data Bus Hub

RAL/DEL   i did just this to make sure when both connected to the main board without DBHR connected, Keypad and Transceiver both connect just fine, bus light lights up on the transceiver and communication to the Keypad no problems

Problems with Connecting the Elk Two Way Transceiver on a Retrofit Data Bus Hub

per above conversation btw i have tried the jp1 terminator on DBHR ON and OFF thinking maybe that stops the bus going to branch 1 but made no difference  i agree the instructions are a little unclear what they mean by EXAMPLE 1,2 etc and give the impression you can do one device on branch 1 then...

Problems with Connecting the Elk Two Way Transceiver on a Retrofit Data Bus Hub

    1. i was trying to put the keypad on branch 1 of the DBHR and the M1XRFTW on branch 2.   2. accordingly i have now tried - both Keypad and Transceiver connected to branch 1 - keypad terminated at keypad - transceiver terminated at tranceiver - JP3 terminated on board - JP3,4 and 5 terminated on...
