Yikes...I don't know how I missed that. Thanks for the link.

    Automating Shutdown Question

Appreciate any suggestions on this "stumper": I need my alarm panel to automate the shutting-down of my hot domestic water recirculating pump. My panel has both relay outputs and low-current outputs -- but I can't seem to find a receptacle or plugin power module that can be directly...

    Powering a Siren

Thank you both. Yes, I would not have posed the question unless circumstances were such that running a new (and appropriately gauged) wire were not possible. Just trying to determine the scope of risk associated with co-opting the only existing multi conductor wire running to that location...

    Powering a Siren

Are there any rules, regulations or "best practices" which dictate whether or not a siren can be powered using a single unused pair -- within a 2, 3, or 4 pair, 22 gauge, solid, multiconductor wire? I'm wondering if this is acceptable -- especially if the other pairs are being used for sensors...

    Rain Sensor Suggestions?

Thanks for that. Unfortunately, I live in a place where there can be close to an inch of rain at my house -- and no rain whatsoever 5 miles away. Also, if one is in a soundproof bat cave theater -- there is simply no way to know if it is raining outside...and that can be for 2 hours or more...

Elk Voice Announcements Over Panasonic Intercom

Excellent work Spanky! I think it's great that you and your team have provided the tools for individual users to customize this feature. Just one thing...wouldn't your second example delay the announcement by 2 seconds? Anyway, thanks again. I can't wait to integrate the upgrade! Edit: My...

Elk Voice Announcements Over Panasonic Intercom

Yes, I agree, a short and natural pause interval is essential to increase intelligibility and provide a human feel. It would be nice if a one-size-fits-all approach could work. However, I do believe that a user-selectable delay will allow for better integration of various PBX models which...

Elk Voice Announcements Over Panasonic Intercom

Yes, I agree wholeheartedly! If possible, it would be optimal if the user could select the delay that is appropriate for their PBX. The delay on my Panasonic 624 is 1-1/2 seconds and, although it might seem rather insignificant, I'd rather not have to wait 3 seconds to begin an announcement...

    Rain Sensor Suggestions?

Thank you BSR for that very generous offer. And, hope you're right Rich. It would be great if it went that smoothly.

    Rain Sensor Suggestions?

That's kinda where I started. A WaterBug or GRI Water Sensor sitting in a very small container. However, that led to concerns about how much time it would take to accumulate enough water in the container to trigger the device. I was also put-off by the necessity of having to empty the...

    Rain Sensor Suggestions?

Thanks for your replies. I may have stumbled onto something that might solve my problem -- although it will take a bit more research and a fair amount of hacking; http://auto.howstuffworks.com/wiper4.htm http://www.oedes.com/raintracker.php http://www.sriraaga.com/rainsensor.html...

    Rain Sensor Suggestions?

Thanks for those suggestions. I had looked at those types of sensors before. Unfortunately, those devices seem to trigger at approximately 1/8" or greater -- and I need to know if it is raining immediately. We frequently have torrential rain storms accompanied by very high winds -- if windows...

    Rain Sensor Suggestions?

I live in a windy place where rain -- and open windows -- are a bad combination. I've been looking for a rain sensor to connect to a M1Gold so that a verbal announcement can be made throughout the house. Anyone know of such a unit? ...especially one that does not require any intervention...

Elk Voice Announcements Over Panasonic Intercom

Hi Spanky, Is there any way to single-fire an Elk message that is not documented? I would really like to leverage the paging functionality of Panasonic PBX's in order to notify occupants of window & door openings and closures with plain English spoken language. The advantages of this...

    Interfacing: Caddx > Elk

Thanks, yeah the overriding factors on this one are less than desirable. Hopefully, some type of acceptable solution will present itself.

    Interfacing: Caddx > Elk

Thank you all for these suggestions. Yes, BSR, I basically need the state of every input zone of the Caddx to be effectively "replicated" on the input zones of the Elk. As much as I would like the Caddx to be downstream of the Elk, it's really not advisable given their respective functions...

Elk Voice Announcements Over Panasonic Intercom

Am I correct in my understanding that, except for your bypassed phones, the M1 performs a global speakerphone page requiring no action on the part of residents except to merely listen to the page. And, that the only reason you dial "43" is to answer the page to hit # in order to avoid the...

    Interfacing: Caddx > Elk

Yes, the NX8e is limited to 8 Relay Expanders (NX-507E) -- each of which have 7-Outputs and 1-Open Collector (which, using a relay, could be converted into an 8th output -- thereby providing either 56 or 64 outputs. Not really enough for the application. Yes, I agree -- not a good idea --...

Elk Voice Announcements Over Panasonic Intercom

Interesting idea...but I didn't think BGM could be monitored by local phones -- only outside lines that were on hold. Am I mistaken? Is it possible to set all idle phones to default to routing BGM to the speaker component of the phone -- as though the global intercom function was being called...
