The Ultimate Home Automation Software List

Hi Dave! Welcome to the CT forum....took you long enough... To flesh out what Dave said a little, BVC is an FREE (edit: well a slight nag until you donate) add on to X10's Active Home Pro (AHP). If you combine it with AHP (which usually includes a CM 15A in one of X10's low priced packages)...

Issue with new Leviton HCA02 amp/repeater?

Well - this thread is a little hard to follow... What's SF,SG? Anywho - search this board or almost any other HA board to find problems w/ the HCA 02 (e?). Cool you got it from Martin - so you are covered. MAY I suggest - if you MUST have an active repeater try the act line (234 me thinks)...

    X-10 VS Insteon

I love my X10 setup....and more importantly my wallet does as well  . Happy as a clam here on HS 1.7.44! The only problems I have had was when I installed a Leviton HCA 02 repeater - and things went crazy. The same thing happened when I had the built in boosterlinc in my Keypad 6 turned...

    SH Forum Moderator false allegations

Here here! I am begininng to think we should change the name of the forum to "The Smarthome Bashing Forum". Stating the problems once, twice, thrice and then again in response to relevant posts is OK. But this has been excessive. However, thanks to posts like these (and my constanly reverting...

    It happened to me...

Well, I was hoping to say it was just kids - but unfortunately it doesn't really sound like it. When my parents house was broken in to (MANY years ago) - the effect on the women was unimaginable - the stuff didn't matter, but the loss of security did. My sister seemed to get over it when she...

Thinking About Purchasing an iRobot SCOOBA

It would seem to me the issue is whether you have GROUTED tile or a SMOOTH floor. I bought the Hoover "Floormate" floor cleaner and although it was twice as slow as mopping, it did NOT get into the grout at all. If you have substantial grout, you know thats where all the dirt settles. I doubt...

    Homeseer does it again.....

Rich, I sincerely HOPE HS cares about the dollars. Without them, no HA, no HS, no fun. However, the MOST sucessful people had a vision, and the money followed. All 3 of them. I have watched the price of HS skyrocket, but funny, compared to others, still cheap. I guess I think not everyone in...

    HDTV Recommendation

A worthwhile link.... http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=312535 CR rates the picture on SD as well as HD. It is obvious that the techno savvy here don't care for CR - but they are the only ones that do this type of rating. And yes, the particular TV makes a big difference...

    HDTV Recommendation

Thanks BSR - I ASSumed they were big and therefore at least OK. BTW the ONLY online RIP OFF I have ever experienced was via Tiger, and I have never ordered anything from them! Bought 2 cheap computer items from 2 NY online stores the SAME day. Next thing I knew I had just bought a $496 item...

    HDTV Recommendation

I think this is a steal AND has free shipping and no tax (if you are not in FL/NC). CR rates Toshibas as reliable - but after reading AVS about premature bulb failures, the TV locking up like a MS 'puter, AND very long repair times, I'm still going to wait a while...

    Sad News to report

Sad... A very large loss. I posted in the HS thread, although HAL would also be appropriate since he was a former HAL user. GLT

    Wireless Speakers

I use this with two ceiling speakers: http://www.x10.com/promotions/goldmine_vk59a_2.html Wireless included RF remote is cool, can adjust tone/volume/mute etc. from anywhere. It is 2.4 ghz with associated problems (microwave etc.). Been in my uninsulated Florida attic for years now. GLT

The End is Near for HomeSeer 1.7x

W800/Ocelot/ VR? Hmm... just on the CQC message board.....is HS the ONLY program that supports the W800? If so, wonder why? (now that it is a paid plugin) Sure works nice with my DS-10's. So I guess HS is the only program that supports those too? OK CQC can start w/ the ocelot - THEN I'll...

The End is Near for HomeSeer 1.7x

Gee I really love HS but .... Anybody been on the message board there now? Nothing compared to the old activity.... Guess controversial posts like mine are now deleted by the "new" moderator... (I complained about the "phone home" feature and compared it to MS who at least fixed part of the...

    EHExpo - group dinner?

Signed up - but whether I go depends on whether Martin will bring some DEALS I am interested in. Charge card has zero balance and is getting HOT! Probably won't make dinner though. Come on Martin - what are the special deals for those at the show? GLT

    Interesting ICON ApplianceLinc Observation

I have always felt local control caused far too many problems to be worth it. I think only a small percentage of people actually use it and they could just as easily set a small controller next to the lamp they want to control locally as use this feature. Agreed. Now I can go back to sleep...

    Interesting ICON ApplianceLinc Observation

"Is that something normal that is necessary for local control? " Sure sounds like it. I mean, if it totally kills the load, how would it know if there was a change? On SH's X-10 appliancelincs, you can turn off local control by setting the address followed by an "off" command. Did you try...

The Egg that Homeseer Technologies laid.

Still happily running 1.7.44 w/ the FREE W800 plugin. I came to HS after an unhappy experience w/ my 2 $16 Lowes closeout HAL deluxe kits. (VR over a mic would lock the computer - solution? Disable VR.) When I started w/ HS, I was surprised how many bugs fixes remained in a supposedly mature...
