Cannot Access my Elk web server M1EXP

So I had a go with this and it didn't work, but you did help me after all.  All along I thought it was the web server in the M1XEP, so I was dismissing the fact it was PC software causing my problem.  I tried my neighbours laptop and I was able to get into the interface.  I really need to learn...

Cannot Access my Elk web server M1EXP

Sorry if this topic has already been discussed, I was unable to find this particular problem in the database.   I have an Elk M1 (5.2.8) with an M1XEP Ethernet interface.  I have been using it since 2009 with very few problems, I very pleased with it, I rarely have to do any maintenance, it just...

Fiber Optics to your house, do many Cocooners have it?

I'm wondering how widespread this technology is, do other Cocooners have similar setups? I had our local telecom company install a fiber optic link into my house last week. It's a new setup offered by BellAliant here in eastern Canada, they call it FiberOP. They pulled a terminated cable...

My experience with Simply Automated PIM (UCM-DB9)

I received my replacement the unit. I plugged it in and on came the light at the usual time. This setup is very easy to work on. It's been such a long time that I forgot that the UPB devices maintained the setup and of course so did the Elk. All I had to do was replace the PIM. Most of you...

My experience with Simply Automated PIM (UCM-DB9)

Hi Folks I wanted to share with you my experience with using the SA UCM-DB9 interfaced to the ELK M1. I commissioned the setup in the fall of 2008. I have a dozen or so UPB devices in use, mostly lighting. Until last week I have never had an issue with the setup. All loads are controlled...

Dlink DSM-750, misleading information about .mt2s capabilities

That machine looks cool. I'm concerned about the audio through the HDMI port. I use my receiver to switch my HDMI inputs. Are all these machines capable of this? What is that format called anyway?

Dlink DSM-750, misleading information about .mt2s capabilities

Hi folks I picked up a Dlink DSM-750 media extender for my home theater last weekend on EBAY. I wanted an easy way to get at all my photos, music and video on my home theater. I figured this would do it as it claims all of the above. Everything works except the video format from my Panasonic...

    AARTECH Review

Hi Martin I'm also in Canada and have purchased about $3500.00 CAD of equipment from AArtech. I found them to be very helpful and the pricing is pretty good too. I used there online tech support to get some help in making product decisions. Take care Spintop

Measuring Power Consumption on 220V circuits

I did it using a clamp on meter. I turned off all ccts on the board, clipped the meter in place and started closing ccts, worked fine. If you want both simultaneously, get a clamp on for both sides. my2cents

    Robbed!

I actually bought that system at Costco (price you mentioned makes me think it's the same unit). I returned it about a week later. The DVR was OK and easy to setup, the cameras were not. I ran the unit for that week and found the camera quality was very poor at night. During the day, in low...

Controllers and I/O worth looking at

I thought you folks would be interested in seeing this if you haven't already. It seems these are designed to be used in commercial/industrial applications, but they're worth considering for use in HA. www.ezautomation.net Any comments?

planning a new build, need integration advice

Yes, I have considered all your points. There are several discussions in the forum about this very issue south of the border. It amounts to how reasonable your inspector is. Some may raise the issue, others may not. I believe Sacedog had to jump though several hoops just to get his local...

planning a new build, need integration advice

I can't see why not. The low voltage control wires are going to be terminated outside the box, making it a non-issue. I believe the requirement is 50mm space between low voltage and high voltage wires OR a physical barrier. Maybe someone can confirm this for me? As an added measure, I...

planning a new build, need integration advice

Just an update on my selection of audio products. I've chosen the NUVO Grand Concerto. I like the functions of the keypads and the fact that it can be put on your house PC network very easily. It looks like I could even eliminate the use of the keypads all together and use a local PC to do...

planning a new build, need integration advice

I have spoken to SETNET and I do find them helpful. AArtech does not sell On-Q ALC products, so I think I'll be going over the border for help there. Right now I'm trying to decide on dimmers vs relays everywhere (incidentally dimmers are cheaper than relays, go figure) Here in Canada, the...
