Dell Home has the Logitech Harmony 880 Advanced Universal Remote $249 - $100 off Code: Z0FV5PFFK5JQS7 Exp 9/1 4pm or 2000 uses = $149 shipped free.
I have the 890 and like it.. not sure of the differences..
TonyNo,
Are you using the receiver and the amp together to deliver the music through the powerlines?
I tried go to radioshack this afternoon, but the one closest to me is gone and someone said that a bunch of them closed..
Could you not just leave the amp on all the time? Not sure of what the power draw is but...
As for the $10 price, originally these were from radioshack and around $150/ea.. although they were used for distributing audio over powerlines..
I'll swing by and pick up some if my local shack has...
Wondering if these would work as part of a whole house audio system for the amplifier portion?

Rumor is you can hack them to change it to be audio out so you could use them as cheap 25x2 channel amps..
Question is - they have volume...
I plan on running about 18-24 runs of speaker wire when I start building my house.. It could be awhile before I actually use them and was wondering if there is a patch panel of sorts for speaker wire..
Somewhere I could secure the wires and label.. Instead of zip ties and labels..
I actually got mine from Dell's website - got a REALLY good deal, my guess is that is was a price mistake they didn't catch.. I paid less then 150 for it shipped..
The best price I had seen prior to that was Amazon for like 250 shipped..
chris
where did you find that out? i just happened to be browsing logitech's website and saw an FAQ where they say they support z-wave products..
I take that back.. Here is a snippet from the website:
Currently, we are still putting the finishing touches on the Z-waveTM section of our...
Just got my harmony 890 remote and I like it so far, my understanding is that it can directly control Z-Wave devices..
For now, I just want to control a single lamp in the house to see if the remote can turn it on / off..
For this to happen what do I need? and where to purchase..
For reference this is pretty much exactly what would work...

It is not CE driven, but embedded XP..
Wonder what the cost is??
Interesting on the eAutomationPro end.. We (at work) purchae a couple hundred advantech systems a year - with my discount wonder what that would work out to?
Still looks like these are aimed at industrial designs..
Dean - not sure what CQC is written in but if it were written in .NET, isn't...
PDA's regularly go for a couple hundred bucks with 3.x" "touchscreens", why not just bump of the size to say 6" and usa CE as the OS?
I believe CQC has a CE based viewer as I am guessing some other programs do?
Ideally I would like something that is powered via POE that is around $400 bucks...
Been surfing most of the day looking for an affordable touchscreen that has Windows CE built in..
Don't see much other than the ELK which doesn't fit my definition of affordable...
With PDAs being relatively cheap, why are the larger 6-7 inch touchscreens so expensive? Heck the PDAs have...
So I ended up ordering the Harmony 890 series and so far so good.. The buttons are a little clunky to work with but I like it so far.. I got it for a realllly good price so we will see..
the 890 also supports RF which is kinda neat and might prove beneficial..
the web way to configure it...
I used to use AutoIT at work, but when they went to version 3, it got overly complicated to do easy stuff..
I use www.autohotkey.com all the time, and it is great.. It basically continued AutoIT's stuff in a simpler way..
So what are you using to backup items? Everything seems wickedly expensive to back up data now .. It almost seems that market has just forgotten about consumer based backups - and backing up 300gb to 4.7gb dvd's just doesn't cut it..
Maxtor had a string of bad drives - we repaced over 100 of them at work, because it was a known issue..
Western Digital, not a lot of problems, same with Seagate..
All drives more or less fail, just a matter of when.. We have some drives that have been functioning in systems that have been on...
1.5gbs? Yeah, my MCE pc only has room for 2 HDs and since they are mirrored I only get 1 drives worth of data.
Not sure when 1.5 tb drives will be out, so I gotta figure something out..
Below is a good referenice (at least so far) of how to do it.

I am running it right now to...
