Here is a flush mount sensor that *may* be compatible with the Webcontol: http://www.datanab.com/sensors/1wire_flushmnt.php. It seems like you could just get a wall anchor and some type of plastic cap from Home Depot and install a DS18S20 inside it.
For my 1-wire setup, I use the EDS OWServer...
I am surprised an off the shelf solution doesn't exist for this (like door/window sensors). I would like my Elk M1 to remind me if my dead bolts are not locked by a certain time...
Does anyone else have daylight savings issues? My Elk M1 changed time on March 8 even though the configuration states the time change should not happen until this Sunday. I had to add a rule within HomeSeer to re-sync the time with my HomeSeer system so it stays accurate.
Any suggestions on...
When I signed up for the AlarmRelay service, one of the things they stated they do is notify you when your Alarm no longer reports. This was of interest to me so I get notified if someone simply disconnects my Internet on the outside of my home.
I am ok with multiple Ethernet failures, it is...
I have been attempting to work with Elk and Alarm Relay for over a year on this and other issues, but I have not made any progress. I have provided detailed packet captures, but still no acknowledgement an issue exists. Can you do me a favor and isolate your Elk M1 from the public Internet for...
I can duplicate the issue you are reporting. I believe it has something to do with disconnecting the Elk RP software. If you connect to your Elk M1 using the Elk RP software, then you'll need to put your alarm in test mode.
I have been attempting to work with Elk and Alarm Relay for over a...
Here are the screenshots I took when I installed my 2 Brultech ECM units: http://board.homeseer.com/showthread.php?t=150005 I connected the 2 Brultech ECM units to HomeSeer using the UltraECM HSPI.

Check out the Cisco E4200. This device allows me to add Internet Access Policies for all the devices my kids use (xbox 360, iPods, laptops, etc) and supports schedules and blocking up to 4 web sites per policy. It also supports parental controls which allows you to block up to 8 sites per...
Alarm Relay and Elk still has not been able to resolve any of the issues I reported.

I have had simliar experiences with the Elk M1 and Alarm Relay and raised simliar questions. See http://www.cocoontech.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19124
I sent detailed information to both Elk M1 and Alarm Relay. I have have not received a response from either company.
On a positive note...
I recently experienced a similar issue (a leak) which caused my AC unit to run pretty much constantly. The temperature reading at the primary air outlet was 60 degrees. The AC guy put in .75 lbs of Puron and then the temperature at the primary air outlet dropped to 45 degrees! I am adding a...
Root cause: AlarmRelay (aka Watchlight) made some changes to their Internet system and forgot to allow UDP port 3601. The issue was resolved as of 06/23/2011 11:57 EDT.
The Elk M1XEP will send up to 4 UDP packets to the central station IP address at the start of the heartbeat internal. Their...
I have completely lost connection to AlarmRelay since early this afternoon. I see the Elk M1EXP sending the UDP packet, but I am no longer seeing a reply from AlarmRelay. I just noticed the IP address they had me configured for alarm reporting is also their primary SMTP server.

I recently switched to AlarmRelay via the Elk M1XEP and I am experiencing the exact same issue. What is interesting about this error is it only written to the logs when the restore occurs. I had my home network isolated from the Internet for over 1.5 hours and my Elk M1 reported an Ethernet...
