Elk M1G - "Over Current" message following lightning "event"

Before I pull the trigger and order a new Elk M1G system board, I thought I'd see if anyone had any other suggestions...   The sequence of events was...   Lightning nearby... magical blue smoke.... $12k insurance claim.     From the time power restored, the ELK reported "Over current" and a long...

    Universally supported IP Cameras?

Hi Dean. I loved the potential of CQC and still think it's a great product.  The annual recurring cost probably pushed me over the edge.  I use SageTV and Sonos for my media and thus was only using CQC for the "interface" for the cameras and the ELK driver.  The $100 a year for just those two...

    Universally supported IP Cameras?

These are some great ideas.  Thanks guys.  I'm definitely still at the cave-man stage for using these cameras.  I gave up using CQC a few years ago and am now just using various in-wall monitors to display the camera feeds via a web page.  I tend to use chrome in "kiosk" mode for this -- thus...

    Universally supported IP Cameras?

Greetings all.  A lightning event last weekend has given me the "opportunity" to replace most of my ELK setup and my surveillance cameras.  Unfortunately, I've been on a several-year-long period of everything working perfectly and thus haven't been following the forums.  My current knowledge...

Any Product Which Allows ELK Armed Status to be Displayed in Web Page?

Greetings, I'm wondering if there is a mechanism by which I can add text / button to a web page reflecting the armed/disarmed status of my ELK-M1G? Security isn't an issue as this would all be running behind SSH. Just a nudge in the right direction (if it exists) would be helpful. TIA, Chuck

Can anyone recommend a simpler replacement for CQC?

I'm starting to think you may have hit the nail on the head. My Elk M1G drives my relays, has it's own programming functions, and has 5 hardwired keypads throughout my house. I'm not sure I need to add an additional layer of programming. All I really need to do is get some limited data out of...

Can anyone recommend a simpler replacement for CQC?

Greetings. I'm hoping to be pointed in the right direction. I've been a CQC user for 3 or 4 years and over time I'm using less and less of it's functions. At this point all I use is the ELK M1 Interface to report alarm status and the web widget to display a few cameras. Sonos and Sage have...

    DIY Touchscreen?

Hey all, I'm wondering if anyone has taken a swing at building an in-wall touchscreen with one of the "touchscreen kits" from Earth Computer Technologies. http://store.earthlcd.com/LCD-Products/Touch-Screen-Products This is getting into an area that I know little about, but it looks possible...

    Saving LP's to CD's

It may be completely unnecessary to say this, but... please, oh please, keep all of the files on your hard drive. After saving an LP for 20+ years it would be horrific to write all of the files to a CD-R with a (much debate here) 5 year shelf life. ... probably didn't need to be mentioned...

Elk - Can I trigger panic alarm in with a Rule?

I'll see if anyone else has a suggestion, but it looks like the only way may be to run a loop thru my output relay board and call that a "24 hr" input zone. Then use the rule to open the relay. Seems a bit "kludgy" however.

Elk - Can I trigger panic alarm in with a Rule?

Greets, So I've got a set of rules using a counter and output timer so that if KeyFob button 4 is activated 3 or more times within a 15 second window a rule will activate... Is there a way to trigger a panic alarm with a rule? (I'm not seeing any way) Any help would be appreciated.

    NX-481 PIR Tamper Springs

Do you just need a spring -- or is there an "assembly" involved? If it's just a spring, then the ever popular McMaster-Carr could come to the rescue http://www.mcmaster.com/ I'm looking at a GE wireless PIR sitting on my desk. If it's the same as the 481, a short spring fits over a black nub...

Mounting ELK in a Leviton enclosure

I 2nd the velcro. Or for more overkill use 3m Dual Lock I ran 4 vertical strips equally spaced in my big leviton can -- makes it real easy to re-position the M1G, modem, expanders, etc. With the DualLock there's no worry about anything falling. You'll be prying it up with a flat tool when...

Please tell me what you think of this new product

IVB, I've done it with two doors and have a 3rd set to do. Kinda hard to say. The hardware installation time was pretty quick -- on the order of an hour. Most of the time spent keeping things pretty: cutting the existing caulk, removing molding, digging out a bit of foam insulation...

    russound compoint question

If you look closely at the intercom unit instructions you will see a reference regarding using only one speaker rather than a pair. Since the speaker output of the compoint puts the speakers in series, you apparently need to put a wire across the + and - terminals of the unused speaker output...

    russound compoint question

Does the intercom work in page mode and room to room? i.e. everything works but the door station? (I'm thinking about how you have to jumper across one of the speaker outputs if you don't have a pair of speakers wired in)

    russound compoint question

I installed one about a month ago... It is t568A wiring. (1st wire green-white) I actually had a hard time with the punch-downs on the door station. Something about their design or my poor skills, but I had to do it a few times before I made a good connection. (I also put a finish nail thru...

Will this work - Elk Siren Voice

Here's the link http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi....21906&pid=1600 They're not particuarly inexpensive, and while single gang, they need to be in a box by themselves., i.e. wouldn't work in a multi-gang configuration. I mounted mine near the ceiling by themselves. I'll be...
