Getting my M1XEP up and running again

I did not have that page with the DHCP switch instructions in the old paper manual I have. Lesson there to check new documentation. After flipping it to static and back to dynamic, I was able to get it to show up again. I suppose it my have been my new router threw it off in some way. The tool...

Getting my M1XEP up and running again

I have cycled the XEP a few times. No dice there. Don't recall if I tried cycling the M1G as well to reset the serial port, but I'll certain give that a try as well. If it seems like the serial port is bad, could I use an XSP as a substitute for the main serial to connect the XEP? I have two...

Getting my M1XEP up and running again

When I was getting that error, I was plugging the USB/Serial connector from my laptop right into the M1G board serial port. I had to unplug the XEP to do that. Is there something I need to do to unenroll the XEP? I tried doing the enroll step from the keypad to get it to recognize the XEP again...

Getting my M1XEP up and running again

I have an M1G that I used to communicate with via the M1XEP. It has been a LONG time since I have tried connected to the M1G with my computer, because I have not really had the time or the need. I just recently had to make some changes to the system because the installers of my new windows cut...

    ELK-M1XEP not connecting to network

My connection from the M1G to my Indigo setup has been neglected for quite some time.  I have been trying to get it up and running again this weekend, but I am having trouble with the  ELK-M1XEP. I don't see its MAC address showing up on my router.  I have power cycled it and plugged it in and...

    M1 XEP - can't update bootware/firmware

Thanks Mike! I finally got the intermediate versions loaded in RP and then the process went like a charm. it seems like it was necessary to go to 1.3.28 first

    M1 XEP - can't update bootware/firmware

Mike, That is precisely my problem. I only have one version to choose from in that drop down. I cant figure out how to (1) get the other versions and (2) get them into RP2 so they will show up on that list. Thanks again! Alex

    M1 XEP - can't update bootware/firmware

Sorry, I guess I did not explain well.  I am using RP2 to do the updates. I used RP2 to download the firmware/bootware updates, but it only seems to retrieve the latest ones for each device. So I have the most recent XEP firmware and bootware, but not any intermediate versions. Is it possible to...

    M1 XEP - can't update bootware/firmware

I am trying to update the firmware/bootware to the new version that is supposedly more email friendly.  (currently at HW 1.0, boot 1.1.4, firmware 1.2.8)   When I try to do it via RP2, it tells me: "Firmware is not compatible with existing Hardware or Bootware..." even when I try to update the...

    Lightning fried my sprinkler system

So a couple months ago, two days after the company came out to check and de-winterize the system, it gets fried by lighting. At least this is what seems to have happened. The RainBird controller was literally blown open and all blackened inside. There was no damage to any electronics in the...

Serial interface to iMac using XSP

Thanks for the link. I dug around there for a while, but it looks rather more involved than I am willing to get. I did rig it up using the SerialBridge code and a long wire to port 0 last night. It works like a charm now. The code just needs a bit of tweaking, but AppleScript I can handle.

Serial interface to iMac using XSP

Nuts. I don't think I can rig up a virtual serial port like that on my Mac. At least not with my current level of knowledge. Since I don't really use RP at all, I am thinking that I may just end up taking the XEP out and connecting the Mac to port 0. You'll know it worked when you see my XEP on...

Serial interface to iMac using XSP

I am working on integrating my ElkM1G with Indigo on my iMac. (using this) The plan is to connect the mac to the elk using a Keyspan adapter and an XSP. My serial port expander has firmware 1.0.26. My question is, how to I treat the M1-XSP like serial port 0? I can't connect the mac to port 0...
