Preach that, brotha! We had to make a trip to the store this weekend because we discovered quite a bit of mildew and mold in the basment on the bottom of the doors we were going to install. We've had water sitting on the floor for some time, and it never went away...so we were basically at 100% humidity down there. All of the cold water lines were sweating
We're down to 70% now, and still going down. I'm looking into how I can use some humidity sensors and some controllable outlets to manage the humidity down there.
As far as insulation, I'm not planning on putting any in the walls I have up now. But if we finish an area down there, then we'll put insulation up.
Go for 9' basements, you WON'T regret it.
