trying to reduce contents of C drive on EEE

I am trying to squeeze more software onto my C drive of an EEE. Do I need both the J2SE Runtime Environment (119mb) and the Java 6 update (90 mb)? I don't do any development etc. on this machine, so just want the basics.....

Suggestions on reducing space requirements related to these components?

Uninstall them both, then go to http://www.java.com/en/ and get the newest version which should take you to version 6 update 16.

While you at it update any adobe products as unpatched versions of flash and reader are favorite vectors of attack.

In fact do yourself a favor and ditch adobe reader completely and use another one such as Foxit.
