    New Central Station Monitoring?

Neil, are you using NextAlarm for full monitoring or self monitoring?

    Elk M1 help

If your core issue is the wrong/stuck clock, I recall some sort of an issue that may have been similar.  I think the problem was a frozen clock chip.  The solution was to slip a piece of paper under the arm that holds the coin battery in.  I believe the M1 should be off or maybe even depowered...

    Keypad Beeping - no trouble

Are you using the XEP with Ethernet monitoring by a Central Station?  That would be my first guess to focus on.  Kind of like a telco trouble.   Just guessing here: I suspect that the Ethernet Trouble is a fairly "new" trouble and it might be a bug that it doesn't show up on the keypad?  Or...

Device to Remotely Cover a Security Camera?

Since you aren't overly concerned with appearance, maybe an upside down bucket lowered down over the camera by a winch.  :)   You could also put the camera on a turntable and rotate it 180 degrees for privacy, so that it faces away.  Using a 24V swimming pool valve operator as a camera base...

    NextAlarm down/troubles?

NextAlarm gave me a new reporting phone number to use on Monday.  They have not responded to my followup questions about why the reporting phone number changed without notification or what the backup/secondary number should be.  It is a good thing that I have my ISY and HomeSeer still doing...

    NextAlarm down/troubles?

re:Double chirps are normal CS receiver CID handshake and multiple times is also normal. The ringing portion is not, nor is the redirect (handshake repeat).   Thanks for that knowledge.   re: Is the 2 hour and 300 outgoing call number accurate or an exaggeration? 8 dial attempts would be...

    NextAlarm down/troubles?

Thanks Digger.  I believe that my M1 is only set to retry 2 times, so I am confused by it trying 300 times.  There should have only been the one daily test message in the M1 queue.  I have power cycled the M1 yesterday afternoon, but that didn't help either.   Is a central station phne number...

Forum posting is not compatible with Privacy Badger?

I tried to start a new thread as a long-term member.  I kept getting re-directed to CloudFlare's CAPTCHA tests and I kept failing.  It vaguely implied that I might be infected, but it gave no details.  I tried both FireFox and Chrome, running Win7.  Eventually I had the idea to disable Privacy...

    NextAlarm down/troubles?

Is anyone else having trouble with NextAlarm?   Yesterday (Saturday), my Elk M1 tried to do it's 9 AM test call.  It apparently failed and my M1 kept re-trying until I noticed the phone line being active about 2 hours and 300 calls later.  I disconnected the M1 from the phone line to stop the...

New light system for hallway and stairs?

I have some of the SnapPower GuideLights.  I like them.  I am also a big fan of true downward aiming nightlights.  These do not light up a room.   They do have a light level sensor.  Some of my locations are dark enough that the GuideLight is on nearly 24/7, but I am OK with that.  I suspect...

    New version of Elkrp2 2.0.24

Is the XEP (still?) slow to send emails?  I recall reading that with the newer XEP features and increased SSL security, it was much slower to send email.  Or am I mixing this up?

    List of Home Automation Words

Are you looking for voice control (ie commands) or simple output?   For output, I would start with the words in the Elk M1 security vocabulary.  They have around 500 words and it covers most things I have needed, short of text-to-speech.

    Elk Alarm time-out

Did it do this multiple times?  i.e continuously until you disarmed it?   Any chance the patio door was wiggled such that the mag sensor triggered a second alarm?

    Migrating from isy99i to isy994i

Yes, as the 99i is no longer supported.  So, if SmartHome adds any new devices or changes anything in the existing devices, the 99i would no longer be compatible.  So, if you had a device failure and replaced it, the new version of firmware on the replacement device may not work for you. ...
