The other solution is to install screens and put the sensor on the screen. Then you get a secure home and open windows :(

Elk is next to useless in keeping track of UPB status. It can turn UPB switches on and off, but it has no idea if you manually turn on or off a switch.There is also no confirmation of receipt, so you can't be sure if the switch received your command from the Elk.

Elk is putting all their development effort into their new system. They aren't doing much with the M1(G), as can be seen from the small number of new functions added over the last 18 months.

One difference is that you have one. I had to control 29 valves, so I had 4 of them. I also monitored the actual water usage via the inbuilt counter - this also generated additional traffic while watering. The non pro versions are confirmed to have firmware bugs that cause them to fail when...

Stay away from any of the rain8upb's - I tried them for over a year and nothing but trouble. The serial one's worked OK. I use elk relays now - switch 24V AC transformers via the elk - works like a charm!

UPB isn't great with the Elk. No confirmation of receipt. Almost impossible to determine the real status of a UPB device. Also, Elk development seems to have ground to a halt!

I now have 30+ sprinklers attached to my Elk. Started using UPB - really poor support for UPB via the Elk - no confirmation of receipt, came on when not requested, never know when they were really on. Can't imagine any x10 based system will be any better. In the end, I added more relays...

There is no async notification of changes to the counter. Elk is aware of the issue. I'm only using counters because no custom settings left. The real problem with Elk, IMHO, is that you raise issues, they commit nothing, and usually do nothing. One never knows whether an issue is ever...

Well, if that's it, pretty disappointing. Counters still not sticky, still only 20 custom settings, still won't be able to read counters from CQC due to Elk protocol limitations. And as usual, no idea of what's coming out or is going to be supported. Elk has great teck support, but I have to...

I had CFL's, no dimming, and MTBF was around 90 days!!!

I had to hook mine up to a pc to debug and get it working. Also had to set the baud rate to 9600.

I've got around 20 UPB switches. Pretty unhappy. Elk integration is poor, you can't get the real status of the switch. On top of that, you can't run any of the lhigh efficiency lights, as they are flouresant. Mean time to failure on these lights on the UPB system is around 90 days.
