About
HomeSeer was started in 1998 under the name "AutoHome" by KeWare Technologies. Several years later it was renamed HomeSeer, and is today one of the oldest and most popular home automation software packages in the world. Originally written to solve the problem of a lack of good control programs for X-10 hardware, it has grown into an international product supporting virtually any new home control or home monitoring technology on the market.
HomeSeer HS2 is an advanced home automation and remote access software package that is designed to integrate the major systems of any home. With HomeSeer, you can control and monitor lighting, appliances, security, HVAC, telephone and home theater all from one central point... and you can do so by computer, remote control, touchscreen, PDA, telephone, the internet or by voice!
HomeSeer also offers a line of pre-built hardware and software solutions for people or professionals looking for an all-in-one solution or to not have to select their own PC to run HomeSeer. The professional level solutions offer an embedded OS device with no moving parts (all solid state) which consumes very little power and can be mounted on a wall or in a rack serving as a home controller appliance.

Features
* Multiple interfaces - built in web server (with support from 3rd parties for use with a cell-phone/PDA micro browser), 3rd party Windows/ASP/Flash interfaces, new HSTouch touchscreen interface, and voice recognition via microphone or telephone. Telephone voice recognition requires additional hardware. Voice recognition and text-to-speech is provided via separate speaker client program which can be run on any Windows PC to provide a voice control and voice response interface from wherever that speaker client program is located (network connection back to the HomeSeer server is required).
* Automation Events allow you to create automated actions for your home and include many types of triggers that can launch the event, conditions to further control when things happen, and a rich set of actions that can be carried out. Triggers include time of day, day of the week, day of the month, sunrise, sunset, devices that change, and are infinitely expandable by plug-ins for home automation hardware interfaces which may add to the list of triggers.
* Actions allow you to control devices in your home (e.g. Z-Wave, X-10, Insteon, UPB, Lutron) or other devices and systems through plug-ins (iTunes, Caddx/HAI/DSC/etc. Security, HAI/RCS/etc. Thermostats, and much, much more).
* Devices, which represent technologies in use in your home or may contain virtual information, can display status information controlled by HomeSeer or can display HTML information such as weather forecasts or snippets from important web pages.
* Scripting allows you to expand the system if there is something you want to do outside of the point-and-click web interface. Many different types of scripting languages are supported (VB Script, Java Script, Perl, VB.NET Script, Python, etc.) giving you the most flexibility possible. Scripts authored by other people can be downloaded from HomeSeer's software updater or the HomeSeer Message Board to expand your system through collaboration of thousands of HomeSeer users.
* The HomeSeer Message Board ([1]) is one of the largest and most active in the world for home automation. Topics run from general home automation technology discussions to complex systems for HomeSeer and how to integrate new technologies into HomeSeer.
