    Prewire w/ Spray Foam Insulation

Lou, My house is all electric too, I bought it half-built. It's a solar passive home. I'm basically doing R20 in the walls, but the whole 1st level is ICF Foundation. Then in the roof I'm doing an closed to open cell combo R60 value. That's great on your electric... what are u running for Hot...

    Prewire w/ Spray Foam Insulation

Thank's for the info guys. Basically going with open cell foam, it has to fill the entire cavity to get an R20 value. If I went with closed cell it would be only 3" but it's allot more expensive than the closed cell, so I was trying to save on cash. Basically the only rooms that will be open...

    Prewire w/ Spray Foam Insulation

I was wondering if anyone had any tips/suggestions on how to prewire runs thru walls that will have spray foam insulation? In my 2nd level wall cavities I'm getting open cell foam applied which will fill the whole 2x6 cavity so I'm wondering how the wires would hold up in there if they are...

Distribute 5.1 surround sound from multiple sources

Nice, My integrator recommends the Video Storm products. I think the 4x4 one is $799 and can be expandable. I think what we are going to do is just run straight Component + L/R to the TV's I know I'm gonna have, and just the Cat5e to TV locations that I might put TV's later, then we can just use...

Distribute 5.1 surround sound from multiple sources

So basically I met with the Control 4 integrator yesterday again, for like the 3rd time, and he gave me a better picture after speaking with him and you guys on the thread to get a good solution. To start he wants to use the Video Storm matrix switch w/ just straight component cable out to...

Distribute 5.1 surround sound from multiple sources

How much are the SnapAV Baluns?

Distribute 5.1 surround sound from multiple sources

Exactly I'd definately future-proof for HDMI over Cat6. I guess my question is something you brought up, running Component to each location or going the Balun route? Someone posted $200-$300 for 1000'ft of bulk Component cable, then I just have to get the caps. Doing that as opposed to Baluns...

Distribute 5.1 surround sound from multiple sources

I get you here... But in doing so would you have a receiver at each location as well, with 5.1 speakers connected to that? Or would you have all your receivers in the Central Rack? I think my issue is I have to do a hybrid, the home is very modern and I don't want receivers at the main living...

Distribute 5.1 surround sound from multiple sources

Ok thanks... I think what I'm leaning towards is going the Component route, wiring all tv locations for Component + L/R audio w/ the mini-coax. Then at least 2 dedicated Cat6 for future HDMI over Cat6 distribution, and then 2 RG6QS for cable, and more Cat6 for internet, control, etc. I'll...

Distribute 5.1 surround sound from multiple sources

HDbaseT is very interesting. Man this is a tough choice! Component Video doesn't to 1080p really? As I'm looking into things I guess it is cheaper to do a full component video setup. Looking at $799 for a 4x4 Video Storm Matrix, and then I'd just run Component + R/L Audio to each location, but...

Distribute 5.1 surround sound from multiple sources

Man so what's the best solution? Component matrix w Cat 6 output to balun? That way could switch to hdmi later?

Distribute 5.1 surround sound from multiple sources

Running mini coax to each tv location is expensive isn't it? Compared to cat 6 w balun for HDMI?

Distribute 5.1 surround sound from multiple sources

Sweet, thanks guys! All my equipment will be new, I'm looking to get Integra Receivers so I think I should be all set! This Control 4 integrator wants to do all component video distribution around the house, but I'm like screw that! I think straight HDMI or via Baluns is the way to go, and...

Distribute 5.1 surround sound from multiple sources

It does pass the audio through. But I've read that not all receivers can decode surround sound from an HDMI cable depending on the source? Like an Xbox 360 or PS3 its my understanding you have to use the toslink optical out to get surround sound. Unless I'm wrong?

Distribute 5.1 surround sound from multiple sources

If I have let's say 3 sources (apple tv, hd dvr, blu-ray) that I want to distribute the toslink cable to 3 surround receivers how do you do that? I'm getting a 4x4 HDMI matrix switch to distribute the Video, but I can't figure out the audio end. All the equipment will be in a central rack, and...
