Using old DSC keypads with new panel and DLS?

I may be wrong, but I believe my panel is a 4.6 revision and I used the older DLS 2002 at first before finding a download for DLS-5. You may want to try it and see if it'll support the older keypads and newer revision board.

    Premise Power Monitoring a TV

If you want to use the GC power 'thingy' and your TV is of the new 'smarter' variety with a USB (these are typically only powered up when the TV is) then you can use that as it provides 500mV which should activate that sensor.

    Homeseer - questions?

As per your question regarding the Sonos plugin. I'm one of the two original beta testers for the plugin and purchased it immediately when it went live. It's a 100% fully functional and controls every aspect of your Sonos system. Any additions, changes, fixes are handled EXTREMELY quickly by...

    Frustrated with quality music streaming

Alright, only give them access to Mozart's vault on Sonos. Aparrently classical music helps develop cognitive skills and is supposed to be calming. Force some culture on your childen and turn off that f***ng (sorry, I just had to!) hip-hop! No wonder you worry about what your childen listen to...

    Frustrated with quality music streaming

<rant on> Ok, what sort of music are your childen listening to have have explicit lyrics? I assume it's either hip hop or metal as they're basically the only two that would be of concern. Having said that, I think the onus is on you, the parent, not the streaming media service to determine...

    Frustrated with quality music streaming

Have you considered using Songza instead of Pandora? Firstly it's free, second the quality is excellent, third there's no commercials, and finally the concierge service is pretty damned cool :)   Seeing as how you have a Sonos it's very tightly interegrated with their app(s) and wouldn't require...

CastleOS - new home automation software with Kinect voice control

I believe one requires a certain number of posts before images or attachments are allowed. Which brings up this question: If you've been into home automation (and enough so to create your own program) why have you just now subscribed to Cocoontech? I'm just curious as I see this frequently on...

Why do most WiFi thermostats require you to register online?

I was grumbling about the same over on the Homeseer website. Honeywell's new WiFi thermostat doesn't have an open API and is ONLY controllable through their website though they don't charge for this "feature". Venstar has released a new colour WiFi enabled touchscreen sub-$200 version as well...

    Wall mount Android tablet interest

Target Home Launcher on the market is free and allows any app to become a launcher which fixes the one issue. Basically forces you into one application. But then you still have the lack of a hard button and even with a hard button and an ICS device it's most likely setup as a 'back' button and...

    Wall mount Android tablet interest

Homeseer just released a similar device this past week though it's resistive screen: http://store.homeseer.com/store/x-P1403C260.aspx more pictures http://store.homeseer.com/store/ProductImages.aspx?ProductId=1403 Your price sounds reasonable for a capacitive but I worry about ICS and therefore...

    TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)

That's funny. Wife's Maxima has had all sensors replaced and receiver. Still gets false light all the time when it's cold. We check the tire pressure and have brought it into the dealer almost as SOON as the light comes on when we're able and they've verified that the pressure is OK. They tell...

    TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)

JonW, it's not a tire pressure issue. I've discussed this with numerous dealers as the tire pressure on the cars is still within spec and they run into it quite frequently. I've conversed with friends who've had this issue as well and when their light comes on in cold weather and they check...

    TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)

<RANT ON> I'm not certain if this is the sort of suggestion that you're looking for but... IF the aftermarket systems are as "GOOD" (...cough...) as the OEM systems then avoid them like the plague and thank your lucky stars that you don't have a system installed. The OEM systems that use the...

    API for Honeywell wifi thermostat

Mark, ever since I saw your post on the HS forum I've been searching high-and-low but have been unable to track it down. I don't believe they publish it. In fact, I'm not even certain its an open protocol and may actually REQUIRE access to their service.

    Room/Occupancy Counter project

Ok, I know there are people FAR smarter than me here and I've seen a very similar project here (albeit more complicated as it used opposing sensors but I cannot find the write up) but this "instructable" looks very interesting and quite inexpensive...
