OK, so I did a little bit more work, and installed the Panduit WMP1E... Although, the Panduit is not exactly how I envisioned (I was thinking more along the lines of NeatPatch) so I installed it backwards for now... Here's a picture of how things currently look (Please ignore the File Server PC...

Ah, that black ducting in your setup? Do you have a link to that stuff? That looks nice and neat!

OK, got a dedicated 20A circuit running to the wall... It terminates at the 4-plug outlet you see there... (I have not installed the cover plate yet): I've got the tripplite rackmounted surge strip plugged into the outlet, and then FIOS and the Netgear switch plugged into the Tripplite. Now...

Was not planning on a UPS... Just the surge strip... If there is a power outage, then I'm hosed B) I guess I should get a UPS... I'll do two outlets as you suggested... I think I can do a single 12/3 cable run for that since they won't be GFCI outlets...

OK, electrician is coming over today to run a 20A circuit... Question is, where should he run it to on the rack and in what manner? The line will be coming from the ceiling above. I am planning to have him run a 12-3 line... I want to make sure my power cable management is as clean as the...

My 1927 bungalow home structured wiring project

OK, we're getting REAL close to the end for now... The Netgear 24-port gigabit switch came in the mail today, so I terminated the patch panel with the 9 cat6 drops so far... All that's left are the following: 1) Install Panduit 2U Cable Management in between patch panel and switch (It arrives...

Ya, I wanted at least 3-gang, but c'est la vie... My wife made a comment like "This is a very neat and tidy installation for something that's hidden in the basement utility room", lol!! Made me realize that maybe I am going a bit overboard, especially when I busted out the red paint and did...

Turns out, I had enough depth for the Carlon low voltage mounting bracket! I did have to trim the two screws just a bit (1/4"), but it fit perfectly! I re-ran all the cables to be nice and tight as I have 3 separate service loops so I am ready to rock... Here are some pics as it is right now...

Went to my local electrical supply shop and picked up two Vanco dual-gang 2-piece reversible cable wall plates, then went over to home depot and got two carlon dual-gang low voltage brackets... I'll have to trim the bracket depth to fit, but it should be nicer than just mounting the Vanco wall...

Nice find! Those are reversible too, so either recessed or surface mount... I think we may have a winner ;) I wonder how many wires I can fit in the 2-gang one (which appears to be the biggest one, too bad there's no 3-gang version)? The specs say the hole is approx 1-1/2 in x 3 in... I...

Love the ideas!! And yes, the one cat5 plugged in the patch panel right now is for the ONT, but I plan to route it much neater than that when everything is finished :D OK, just ordered a Panduit WMP1E (Panduit WMP1E Specs)... It's a 2U patch cable manager, should work nicely in between the...

OK, here's a pic of how I think I will set my rack up, suggestions welcomed: Both racks are 12" (I removed the 4" deep rack with swing gate), top rack is 7U, bottom rack is 4U. Top Rack Equipment: 1- Monoprice Cable Managment (1U) 2&3 - 24-port RG6 Patch Panel (2U) 4- Monoprice Cable...

Finished the 1st floor... 2nd Drop in the den is done, and the Office drop is done as well... I am actually getting pretty good at cutting through plaster and wood, in fact, I was able to do it in about 30 minutes and with NO repair required afterwards! (Yes, I was lucky, and yes, miller lite...

lol, too late, already ordered... I will probably do a phone system, but FIOS phone, which I don't think requires POE... As for security cams, I plan to go wireless... Also, I was thinking that I can always add a smaller POE switch (8-port) if needed... That's the great thing about the patch...

OK, so I was inspired tonight and decided to run the rest of the drops to the main level... I decided on the following: 1 additional drop to the den on the other side of the room of the drop I just did this week 1 drop to my office, which shares a wall with the den There was an existing coax...

Done, FIOS router gone! :) Only the 4U rack on the bottom is hinged (but it's only 4" deep)... And I am considering removing it for a deeper (12") 4U rack... Maybe I can use all 3 somehow? Yes, I will definitely group the cables by type (cat6 velcro'd together and rg6 together)... I am...

OK, now that I have my first run done, I want to make sure I do things using best practices at my termination point, my basement rack... Here's a picture of how it looks right now: Here are my questions, I welcome any advice on these, and anything else you may notice: 1) From the upper right...

My 1927 bungalow home structured wiring project

Made some great progress this weekend, ran my first outlet to my HT room (the den) on the main level... Decided to go with a 6-port outet, 4 cat6 and 2 rg6, as it's a room that will be used heavily for media (as it is, I already need 2 cat6 runs to that room for my htpc docking station and...
