I have Nest and Sonos in my home... so the Revolv seem like a pretty good match.
Since it supports Insteon that seems like the logical way to go for lighting control.
I'm not sure how to integrate security though. Will Revolv work with an Elk panel?
If I were building from scratch I wouldn't go with a UPB solution for lighting control. I did a retro on my home with UPB... and its OK but it isn't as reliable as a dedicated hardwired system would be. Belkin is coming out with WIFI connected wall switches at CES now which I find very...
Anyone have an idea of how to fix a HAI UPB switch that no longer turns off? I have to pull out the air gap switch at the bottom to turn the light off now.
Is there a zigbee/zwave solution for the OmniStat II available?
I want to replace my thermostat with a Omnistat II but my preferance is to connect it back to my controller wirelessly.
Its been around for a few months at least.
I was hoping that hte zigbee inteface would just be a module you plug into the board. But it looks like some type of control pad that you have to put some place accessable.
I am thinking of buying the Zigbee interface and an Omnistat 2.
Are most people just sticking the inteface in the attic above their panel? Or wall mounting it somehow beside the panel? Does this unit really need to be anywhere accessable? If so I would need to run a long cable... which really...
I'm not against a TED device... its just that there is no reason to install a TED when you have a smart meter that can give you the same inforamtion.
And my smart meter was just installed. Now I just have to figure out what I can buy that will display the information inside my home.
You could use a Casatunes XLi as a non amplified matrix (5x6). And the Casatunes software from any PC or handheld device can control zones, sources, volume, tracks.
The 5th source can be external to the PC so it could be whatever you want it to be.
All you need to do is run RCAs from the music...
I am very interested in release dates for the technology. As that my need will materialize in the next 3 months I will want to make buying decisions. Please pass that on.
I don't believe that what SoCal Edison is doing would be considered a pilot at this point. They have rolled out 1.3 million smart meters and are continuing down the road to roll them out to all of their customers.

All of the literature I can find around smart meters is aimed at selling the utilities. So I tend to agree that the vast majority of the benefits goes to the utility and the people who make and sell the hardware... but if I can get real time monitoring of my energy use I will be a happy camper...
I have had a HAI dimmer have light flashing probelms. But it was a single dimmer that was defective.
If its multiple HAI switches are behaving in the same way there is obviously something coming across the wire that is impacting the switches. Maybe they are interpreting something as wierd...
