I haven't kept up with pricing, but you may want to consider purchasing another Elk M1 and leave the current system at your old house in place. I don't know the cost of buying a Vista panel or something equivalent to it; but, the hassle of uninstalling the old system, learning a new one...
Hi George:
I'm not sure the serial port is 'active' on a factory reset. You might want to try finding some documentation on the serial port setting on reset with some NX8E documentation online, then perhaps match the serial port settings with the DL900.
I see your issue in you don't have a...
You could possible use this sensor's 'external sensor' terminals and connect it to the magnetic contact wires. If using these external inputs you would not of course use their included magnet.
I remember the DL900 being finicky with its serial port settings on the NX8E. Hopefully those links will provide the info you need. I did do other posts here on this forum about this as it was a common issue.
No wireless 'sensor' that I know of. I did find a post on the HomeSeer forums that shows a way to put a wired magnetic contact sensor inside a door jam here.
There are a lot of people that use a Z-Wave or WiFi deadbolts.
Not sure if this will help, but look at page 17 HERE.
You will then have to setup the serial port via the keypad and match with your DL-900 software. I did some posts on how to do this a loooooong time ago (I don't have the time to search right now).
Thanks Adtranz for this information and welcome to Cocoontech!
I'm sure your talents could be used by our forum members for some of their customized projects! Glad to have you join us!

Yes, that is only a single throw option.
This sounds like a 220 VAC operated pressure increaser as you are using 'two' breakers. Are the breakers 'ganged' together and near each other in the breaker box? Also, what is the current rating of the pressure increaser?
How do you switch the...
That's a good idea, but he did say he connected direct via a crossover cable. Maybe also do a quick ping test while connected like that to ensure IP's and subnets of the system matched with the computer (assuming the computer had a hard IP setting while connected via the crossover cable).
Wow, 20 years! Congratulations on running this great resource for the DIY enthusiast!
I remember chatting with electron on a forum based on a Ford Taurus car club and he mentioned starting a DIY forum for home automation enthusiasts. I believe I was member number 5 as I signed up while chatting...
I haven't programmed a DL900 with a Caddx Nx8E in over 20 years, but I think you have to create an "action". Look at the last few pages of THIS manual.
Maybe try event code 24 "not ready" instead of 42?
Sorry if this didn't help much. At one time, there was a tutor on the DL900 available...
I mounted an outlet inside the cabinets using an old work electrical box. I was able to fish a romex wire from the back of the cabinet to an outlet on the splashpan wall below. You could then route the wire for the undercabinet light to that outlet so everything is still out of sight.
You...
Two options during a quick search, one ZigBee and one ZWave...but you would have 1/8" thickness to spare if you could add the appropriate interface along with your UPB/Automation controller.
As far as recommending an automation lighting technology, this is highly opinionated, especially with...
I took electron's advice and setup Cloudflare tunnel on my Synology NAS running a Docker container.
I would also like to get Remote Desktop working on one of my Win 10 Pro PC's, but having a bit of trouble setting this up with this tunnel. I'm having issues installing the Cloudflare client on...
