Air Hogs Aero Ace RC Plane

I put this under hot deals because there is currently a sale on these planes, but I think they are a hot deal even at the normal price ($29.99 [1]). The Aero Ace is a very small electric radio controlled biplane (wing span of about 10 inches - I haven't measured). It's got 2 motors which...

    Sony DRM

I'm surprised I haven't seen anything here (I tried searching) about this since it's showing up in a lot of other places. Sony has an extremely intrusive DRM scheme on new CDs. They are installing an "interesting" piece of software (and hiding it) on your computer if you want to play the CDs...

    A/V Cable for Hauppauge PVR 150, 250, 500

Hauppauge has finally released a way to use the secondary A/V inputs on some of the WinTV-PVR cards. I'm not sure when it first came out, but I just noticed it (thanks to www.htpcnews.com). Many of the WinTV-PVR cards have a white header which has composite, s-video, and audio connections...

    Intel Entertainment PC Bare-bone

Don't know anything about this, but it doesn't look too bad. A bit expensive for my budget. Add a processor and hard drive, and you should be all set. Intel Entertainment PC at www.newegg.com

Monster Cables wants to own the word monster?

This comes from the web, so who knows if it's true or not. Or, if it's being blown way out of proportion. But, it's interesting just the same. Snow Monsters: Stop the Monster It reminds me of the rumored conflict between Thomas Dolby and Dolby Labs.

    debugging asp/script function in HomeSeer

I'm debugging a combination of a script and ASP page in HomeSeer and would like to ask HomeSeer users to do me a favor. I'm calling a function in the script from the asp page. I need to find out which versions of HomeSeer will get a return value in the asp page (if any). I've got a script...

    [How-To] AC power on/off sensor

This writeup discusses a sensor that can be used as part of another device to monitor the status of an AC power outlet. It uses a photocell to detect light and return a variable resistance. If this is plugged into an outlet, it can be used to monitor power outages (if the rest of the system is...

When not to update to Windows XP SP2...

Saturday afternoon, 2 weeks before Christmas. This turns out to not be a very good time to do the update if you run into problems. I decided it was about time to update my primary PC to SP2. The machine had passed sweeps for adware and viruses. So I went ahead and did the update. Then, of...

When I click View New Posts, the key displayed at the bottom of the posts looks funny using Mozilla Firebird (see attached image). It looks ok with IE and Netscape 7. When I go directly to a forum (not View New Posts), it looks ok under Firebird.
