    Simply Automated out of business?

Thanks W2. I tried every number and email on their website,   Oh I'm sure they are small as the UPB market just keeps shrinking as newer, better technologies have emerged over the years. One of the reasons I assumed they closed doors lol. Seems they are pretty  much down to the DIY crowd.  ...

    Simply Automated out of business?

I have not been able to leave them a voice mail for well over a month. No emails are returned. Im to assume they out out of business and dont have the courtesy to reflect their status on their website. Bummer.

    HAI URC integration

It may be different in the MSC, but the rs232 commands in the Total Control MRX controller requires the \x14 in front of the command. IE, UPB wizard returns the command:   0824CE01FF226480 to turn on a light   The rs232 command would be   \x140824CE01FF226480 from the controller.    You can try...

    HAI URC integration

You didnt respond to my post on RC where you ask this question.

    HAI URC integration

This is a really easy set up. Get the UPB Cim. Connect it to the MSC via RS232. Just have URC send the commands directly to UPB. MUCH faster than URC to HAI to UPB. Do NOT have urc tell hai how to control the lights. No reason to. Let URC control the lights.    Use another rs232 port onthe MSC...

Help with configuring a Simply Automated UCQF-W fan controller

Remind me how to put this unit in SETUP mode??   Says "SETUP MODE When configuring a UPB system, it is necessary to place the UCQF in SETUP mode to initiate self-identification on the powerline. To place the UCQF in SETUP mode press (tap) any button 5 times quickly. The power LED indicator at...

Is UPB able to be queried? Like Lutron

I still feel confident if this was THAT easy, Web Mountain would have figured out how to use their IP module to get what was needed to have 3rd party control. That said, maybe it IS that easy and Web Mountain just needs a starting point. I will turn them on to this thread and see what becomes of...

Is UPB able to be queried? Like Lutron

While Im happy to hear some say how easy this should be, it makes me wonder if so easy, why cant Web Mountain make it happen?? It would be VERY beneficial to them. UPB sales are stagnate. The manufacturers will tell you this themselves : its not growing.

Sounds like Bob is going to write a UPB module! LOL

Is UPB able to be queried? Like Lutron

Oh so true, but they are not none for being speedy or for even being able to right good two way drivers lol.

    Well Said Dean.

Is UPB able to be queried? Like Lutron

Ya, I need to figure out what the issue is. The programming couldnt be simpler: when HAI12 is received, turn on light 7 (or whatever). Not really more complicated than that.

Is UPB able to be queried? Like Lutron

The red print I added.   A: Why thank you. I would love to be paid for being a Total Control fanboy lol.  B: The TC interface doesnt get the status at all, thus the crux of my posting here. To see if possible and how.  C: Would love to see that happen! Couple ways it can. Work with Web Mountain...

Is UPB able to be queried? Like Lutron

Thanks for the feed back folks. Appreciated! Yes, hopefully something is askew thats causing the delay. I have it set up a couple different ways to test.   Send messages via RS232 from Total Control to the Omni Send commands directly to a UPB PIM from Total Control.    And, wouldnt you know it...

Is UPB able to be queried? Like Lutron

Correct, it currently doesnt work. But COULD if we had a module or a way of getting the info via TC WITHOUT using the HAI. I agree, its the HAI side that slows it down, WAY down. HAI is SLOW. it can take four or five seconds sometimes just to turn a light on with even the actual command written...

Is UPB able to be queried? Like Lutron

This is intriguing! I had been speaking with Web Mountain about developing a module/software that can do what many of us are looking for. Maybe you have the expertise to help facilitate this? Lets talk please.

Is UPB able to be queried? Like Lutron

Agreed, on what slows it down. However, it COULD be fast with the right controller (Total Control) as it detects the Lutron sensors CRAZY fast and executes commands pretty much instantly. Definitely acceptable.

Is UPB able to be queried? Like Lutron

While I appreciate hearing all the reasons why this idea sucks and how y'all feel about, really, I do, its irrelevant to me and strays from the OP. IMO, the negative feedback is mostly based on poor logic and improper programming. It can actually be smarter than some realize. Its only as smart...

Is UPB able to be queried? Like Lutron

Not actually "comparing" just looking for ways to query.   True automation. Knowing the status is KEY to fully automating a home. Hitting a button that turns on a scene is not true automation. That's just a shortcut, a convenience. Nice, yes. Capable? Not so much. Having the house KNOW what...
