I will be using the Elk M1XEP Ethernet port with my Elk Mk1 gold set up. I am a complete novice and as I understand (which in no way is complete yet), the Ethernet port will connect the ISY 994i which in turn will control Insteon lighting. This is done via LAN. For all of this to work well, do I...
I am using the m1dbh data bus hub. I have three keypads and I want one specific one to be the first keypad automatically enrolled upon power up. How does m1k pick which of the three will be keypad 1. Will it be the one hooked to terminal J1 of the data bus hub?
Thanks!
The keypad plugin cable has 6 wires. What exactly is the use for the blue and brown wire?
The instruction says the brown wire can be used for the 'Optional Programmable output from keypad'.....I am an extreme novice, exactly what does this mean?
The instruction says the blue wire is for the...
The instructions that came with the p212s only has instructions to connect it to the M1 main board's 4-wire data bus. But, I am using the M1DBH data bus and there are no instruction to connect it to that. Couldn't I do that?
Is it the same as that of keypads? Red to brown, Black to Wht/Brn...
I think almost all of the elk components I got came with the wires for installation. The battery and the ac module/transformer didn't come with it. What kind of wire do I need for this? And how do I cover/seal the connection so there is no exposed wire at the joint?
Thanks!
I am using the extra two CAT 6 wires I won't need for the M1KP2 keypad for the SP12F speaker. I also got the flush mount backbox for the keypad and I see a place to mount the speaker. What size screws do I need to install these. The kit didn't come with it.
Thanks!
I just bought a bunch of things for a Elk MK1/ISY994i/Insteon home automation setup. I am extremely new to this. So, I want to clarify a few things as the items arrive. I will be moving on Jan 15th and start installation soon after. I have read the manuals many times and watched all youtube...
Do I need 'IRLinc Receiver - IR to INSTEON Converter' to control insteon lights with the harmony ultimate remote?
It sounds like the ISY has IR receiver and probably could do without the IR Linc receiver
P.S: reading through the universal devices forum it looks like I don't need the irlinc...

I am new to this, and sorry for such a basic question.
I know zone inputs can be connected in series for all the sensors that will stay in the same zone and if I want more get a zone expander.
However, I am confused how to wire others.
There are 3 +VAUX inputs, but I'll have around 7...
I am very new to this, and would like some help here.
I will be using the Elk mk1 Gold security system with the standard backup battery it comes with, and I want to make sure it can handle all these equipment.

I am hoping to install one of these for my front entrance and for my walkout entrance. When someone trips the sensor in the front and its after sunset it will turn on the porch light. Later I will possibly integrate other things to the link as well. Our front door has glass (opaque) but if...
I would rather not have a security keypad in my main foyer. Can I put it inside the coat closet?
Also, do keypads negate the need for a speaker in that room?
Thanks!
Why is this a pinned topic, when none of the links work?
I am new to elk m1 gold, and trying to get info. Everything up there is dead links. There are some training videos at the elkproducts.com site, but I am an extreme novice and even the basic training is above my skill level.
I am...
