Since the ELK-9100 is no longer available I am looking for a similar alternative. The HAI 72A00-1 seems to be a good candidate and the cost is much less than the 9100, but I am not sure if the 20 amp rating is sufficient for most hot water heaters. Any thoughts?

Okay so I presented options to a builder for lighting and he chose to go with UPB but wants to future proof the home for Lutron Homeworks hardwired lighting. Can I simply pull cat5 from a central location to each light switch or will it be much more complicated than that?

Can anyone point to a tutorial on making custom rs232 cables and how to daisy chain them together? Elk makes it simple with a hub but what about regular cables when not using Elk products?
