    Triple Monitor stand suggestions

By the way, I saw mention of a 40"+ TV being used as a monitor and I thought I would share the monitor that I love and replaced a pair of 24" monitors.  I have the Dell 4317Q monitor and it is phenomal (replaced by 4320Q).  I use it with the Dell Display Manager app, which allows me to setup...

Hikvision vs Dahua vs Ring DoorBells

Why did you switch from Ubiquiti to Ruckus?  And what do you think?  Please share models.  Thanks.   And thanks for the continued info on the doorbells.

    Automating my shop

For my shop I just use Lutron Maestro motion switches, which turn on the lights when motion is detected.  This works because the switch sees any and all motion in that room so it works and works well.  I think I have the delay set to 10 min so it keeps the light on for 10 minutes and resets back...

New house, how to do sound (my education left off in 1990 or so)

So I have a home theater subwoofer business with large 18” and 24” subwoofers (soon to add 12” inwall subs) so I know quite a bit about setting up home theaters. I also like and use Sonos Connect Amps to drive external speakers. However, the Sonos system is completely separate from my home...

I think I’m done with most of Google for HA

Ecobee is a decent thermostat and service but I’ve been frustrated by the outages over the past few months. I don’t know that I’d necessarily recommend them anymore. Since I have RadioRa2, I wish I had just bought a second RR2 tstat.

    VIOP providers?

For those using VoIP.ms, what ATA device are you using? Im setting up service for a friend but my Linksys PAP2T isnt available any more. So far Ive been looking at the Cisco SPA112 or Obi 200. Thanks.

    VIOP providers?

I don't pay taxes with Voip.ms but then again, I don't have a traditional service and don't have E911 turned on.  With E911 service, it would be an additional fee of $1.50 per number, which they say is required to provide the service.  Below is what I pay for 3 business lines and a home phone. ...

    VIOP providers?

I use VoIP.ms for my home phone and business numbers with a Linksys PAP2T at home. Have used it for years and it has always been good. We dont use the home phone much except for a few local calls, mostly for incoming. For my small businesses, I used it more for a remote mailbox as I send...

What do you do about ceiling fans?

Realize the 2A in RRD-2ANF stands for 2 amps so definitely make sure you don't overload the fan control.   EDIT: Just read the link WKearney posted and realized the first post in the thread mentioned the power limits.  However, I'll keep this here for those that don't follow the link provided...

What do you do about ceiling fans?

I have been using the non-automated wireless fan/light controls from Hampton Bay for my kids bedrooms for the longest time. Their rooms have 4 wires going from the wall switch to the fan but the wall box was installed with a single gang box. I just ordered RadioRa2 2ANF fan controls as well as...

ZWave, Zigbee, Insteon or Thread for HA in 2019?

I often see this question of the different lighting technologies. Unfortunately, with RadioRa2 the primary issue you read about is with cost. Device design and Lutron differentiation are way down the list. I see people starting with one lighting technology and later switching to RadioRa2...

New house, zero automation now, what dimmers for future automation

In RadioRa2 software, you get to select how the switch/dimmer acts as well as how the dimmer turns off (2s ramp down as example). So you can choose to let a dimmer act as a switch in the software though I’m sure the local dimming up/down buttons bypass this but with normal operation, you can...

New house, zero automation now, what dimmers for future automation

Meant to add earlier that a lot of DIYers on AVSForum purchase their RadioRa2 equipment from Spiwrx (www.hankselectric.net). His website doesn’t have everything listed so if you have an AVS account, PM there with the list of items you want to buy. I now purchase the 6ND for general dimmer...

New house, zero automation now, what dimmers for future automation

I have those same type of LEDs that fit in a junction box; used 8 4-in in my kitchen and they still work great 5 years later and are very bright. I bought them from HD and just did a search and there are many available now but I didnt see the product I purchased on the website or Id provide a link.

New house, zero automation now, what dimmers for future automation

RadioRa2 is definitely a premium product and I’m not completely happy with Lutron’s product differentiation between Homeworks, RadioRa2, RadioRa2 Select, and Caseta. But while on Cocoontech, I’ve read about problems with Insteon, UPB, Zwave, Zigbee, etc. I don’t think I’ve ever read or...

New house, zero automation now, what dimmers for future automation

And I like RadioRa2 switches which are click and let go. Click to turn in is the same way you turn off. Unless I’m using the keypad, which I always have a regular switch for the main light in a room, even right next to a keypad, I like having a regular (non-keypad) switch that I don’t have to...

New house, zero automation now, what dimmers for future automation

And unlike Keaeney, I was already in the house and added RadioRa2 a little at a time starting with the kitchen when I did a remodel. As I said, the hybrid keypads made the lighting control so much better and more intuitive. As upstatemike said, I needed to control lights from multiple locations...

New house, zero automation now, what dimmers for future automation

And yes Picos and Motion sensors count as devices so you really can jump up in counts quickly as Bill mentions. I have a Pico on either side of the bed in our master bedroom for the wife and I. The main buttons on the Pico including he up/down arrows control the master bedroom lights while the...

New house, zero automation now, what dimmers for future automation

Caséta dimmer suse the same wireless technology so that isn’t the differentiator. Lutron markets Caséta as room based automation while RadioRa2 is home automation. You also get many more devices (100 with DIY or 200 with onsite Lutron training or a dealer). And RadioRa2 has many more device...

New house, zero automation now, what dimmers for future automation

I forgot to add that I really like the RadioRa2 keypads, especially the hybrids that include a dimmer for the local load. I was able to put 3 keypads on 3 different sides of the kitchen/breakfadt nook that saved me from changing the wiring and makes much more sense in terms of what youd actuate...
