It's Not Dark Outside, Mr Elk

Perhaps a silly suggestion, but what is the date in the Elk. If it is incorrect, the sunset/sunrise lookup will be incorrect also. Larry in Denver

    EHx Spring 2010

Well, since I can't be there this year, I'm counting on everyone to post all the great new stuff I should have come to see in person. Also counting on you to have a great meet-up and a cocktail for me. Wish I could be there. Larry in Denver

    Bloom Box

If you are off grid, you almost certainly will have propane for heat and hot water. At that point, the Bloom Box gets rid of the electric company completely. It is also most likely cheaper to install and maintain than solar or wind. The big question mark is, how much does it cost to "fuel it"...

I'll be there for my 5th time this year. Dinner with Cocooner's is always a highlight of the show. Count me in.

    How did you find CocoonTech?

I knew it. Opie was flying around Denver with the CT banner. I followed him to the airport where he was selling CT shirts. Yea, that's how I found the site. Been here ever since. :)

This link is the product page on the company web site. There phone number is at the bottom of the page. I called them up and ordered one.

Can a serial port be split?

What WayneW said. I have not noticed any ill effects in the way I use it, but the potential is there for sure.

Can a serial port be split?

Here is a device that works. I have one connecting CQC and my URC MSC-400 to my AV Receiver. Both have complete control and feedback. It is a bit pricy at $75, but it does the job.

EHExpo (aka EHX) - group dinner?

Friday dinner sounds like a good plan. I arrive late Tuesday and have classes most of the day Wednesday, so I'll look for fellow CCers when I get to the show floor.

EHExpo (aka EHX) - group dinner?

I would prefer a Friday group diner. There is another party on Thursday that I would like to attend.

    Sage TV question

That's good news, I hadn't heard about it. I have been holding off getting one until the problems were fixed.

    Sage TV question

One solution to the 2TB limit is XP Pro 64 bit. I have a dedicated media server running XP64 with a 4TB raid 5 array. Plenty of room for all my movies and music (at least so far). Then I have 2 1TB drives for recorded TV from Sage. I would be cautious about the Seagate 1.5TB drives at this...

    Label maker of choice?

I have a Rhino 3000 and it does a great job. I really like the ability to print on many different types of label material including shrink wrap. It costs $100, but is worth it IMHO.

Anyone going to the HOPE conference? Interesting RFID application.

That shouldn't be a big surprise! :) The key point here is estimated position, I added the emphasis. I hope the technology improves to the point where the estimate is good enough to determine what room a tag in in.

    Got any busted Elk stuff?

Have you tried to contact Elk? They might be willing to loan/give you a demo system. Your ongoing promotion of the M1G has sold a lot of systems for them, its worth a shot.
