RP2 connection via M1XEP not working

Thanks for the help on this.  I updated the firmware on the XEP and was still getting the same result.  I took a WIndows 10 machine and put RP2 on that and it connected immediately... no idea what was going on, but I'm good now so thanks!

RP2 connection via M1XEP not working

Like 3 days ago?  It almost seems like its not enrolling.  Ever since I tried to factory reset the Elk M1 it doesn't seem like i can get anything to enroll (aside from Keypad 01).   I'm going to try updating the firmware and see if that does anything.

Thanks a lot.  I'll give it a try and go from there.

RP2 connection via M1XEP not working

I haven't updated it in a while. Can I do that without using RP?

RP2 connection via M1XEP not working

Sorry, I probably should have mentioned that I'm using a Windows 7 machine as I knew 10 was an issue.

RP2 connection via M1XEP not working

I have had my Elk M1G system up and running without issue for about 8 years.  Recently, I decided to reorganize my wiring closet which involved pulling everything out and rewiring most things.  When I hooked the Elk back up, I was having all kinds of issues with keypads showing Lost Comm, not...

No, I'm not messing with you.  Sorry I didn't know what you were saying.

    Elk doorbell detector troubleshooting

Ok, so to 'short', I take the two wires connecting the M1G and doorbell detector, disconnect them from the detector, and touch them together to see if I get a chime?   When it comes to wiring in the resistor, does it matter if I put it before or after the push button?

    Elk doorbell detector troubleshooting

The doorbell works.  Pardon my ignorance, but how do I short across OUT and NEG?  If I do that and I get a chime, where do I wire the resistor in?  Thanks for the reply!     I can try switching them, but I have negative connected to negative and OUT connected to Zone 13 Input on the Elk.

    Elk doorbell detector troubleshooting

I'm having a hard time figuring out what is going wrong with my Elk doorbell detector.  It doesn't seem to be working at all.   I have it wired up according to the diagram in the installation instructions:     These are the settings for the zone I have it connected to:     I have also set the...

    Wiring questions

Got it, thanks a lot. I'll talk to my AHJ regarding the CO detectors. I think I have all my questions answered for the prewiring so that's great. Can someone tell me how all my future low voltage devices get powered? I know the Elk has 16 input zones and additional zones can be added by...

    Wiring questions

This is correct. My inspector is requiring 120VAC smokes. How about carbon monoxide detectors? My electrician will be hard wiring those as well. Is there anyway to tie those into my Elk so that I can at least be notified when I'm away from home if they're going off? Can anyone help me out...

    Wiring questions

I'm going to have the builder install the 120VAC smokes as well. This will mostly be for backup as well as remote notification if something were to happen when no one was home. If I run two Cat6 to each keypad location, will this be enough for communication with the M1G as well as speakers...

    Wiring questions

I posted a topic a month or so ago regarding the pre-wiring for my new home. The responses I received were very helpful and I think I've got pretty much everything figured out. I've decided on using an Elk M1 Gold. I will be beginning my installation one week from today and I just had a few...

    New home help!

Three Omnistat 2s sound good to me. So I'm good if I tell my HVAC guy to run 18/6 to the thermostat locations and follow him with Cat5 to each one? Or do I need him to run 18/8? Yes, the system he is installing is designed to be dual-zone. One complete system to supply the upstairs, and then...

    New home help!

Thanks. As of right now, that's what I'm going to run to the side of each window: 16/2 and cat5. Great tip about the interior door contacts too. The uses that Work2Play mentioned along with a few others I can think of off the top of my head are very intriguing.

    New home help!

Oh good. I thought I had read that casements were harder install contacts on than double hungs. This is nice to know. Any recommendations on any particular contacts? So 16/2 for power for the coverings, but then what would I need for control of a typical motorized covering? I understand...

    New home help!

Work2Play, thanks to you as well! At this point, I agree with you. I've been reading up and as of right now, I'm planning on wiring everything myself. I'm a little concerned about my window contacts, due to the fact that all my windows are casements, but hopefully I can make something work...

    New home help!

I agree completely. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Is there a current list of smoke detectors that are supported by the Elk Gold? My current thinking is to install an M1 right away as opposed to later. Do the smokes get their power from the M1? Would the only cable run be from each...

    New home help!

Thanks, Wuench. You've helped me understand. I've taken your advice and started going through the Elk manual.
