    Elk or ISY for rules?

Thanks! I have had my rules on the Elk (with a directlly attached power line controller) for a number of years but have recently acquired an ISY. I have played with the ISY and am getting up the learning curve. But to use the ISY for managing my links it appears I have to abandon the...

    Elk or ISY for rules?

I have an Elk and have added an ISY. Should rules/programs that control Insteon devices based on events triggered by sensors wired to the Elk reside on the Elk or the ISY? TIA. Mike

    ISY disconnects from Elk intermittently/frequently

I recently purchased an ISY-99i to connect with my Elk. I have gotten the two communicating with each other, but note that the ISY reports that it is disconnected from the Elk intermittently. If I monitor the event log I see periodic combinations of Elk connect and Elk disconnect...

Insteon via M1 - NO ISY

I've been controlling my Insteon devices directly from the Elk (via serial expander to a PLM) and it works great. The biggest problem is managing links for which I have used PowerHome, but if you just have a few devices, doing it manually should not be an issue. Yes, you can write rules on the...

Advice transitioning existing Elk/Insteon network to Elk/ISY99i/Insteon

I have not purchased the Elk module for the ISY yet but am open to doing so. Wuench, I guess you have hit the heart of my question wich is, is there any way to deal with orphaned links other than starting from scratch? (I think I know the answer but I'm hoping that if I ask the question...

Advice transitioning existing Elk/Insteon network to Elk/ISY99i/Insteon

Greetings. I would appreciate advice on how to transition my existing Insteon network to an ISY. A bit of background: I have about 60 Insteon devices which I currently control via an Insteon Powerlink attached directly to my Elk M1. I had been using PowerHome to configure my Insteon...

    Help trobleshooting Cartell vehicle probe

It appears that I spoke too soon. After working for a time, my vehicle sensor is back to showing short all of the time, now on a different input on the Elk. I'm now thinking I've got a bad sensor. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

    Help trobleshooting Cartell vehicle probe

Well, I dug out the cable (actually I hired some poor soul to do so in this heat) and lo, the cable had no evidence of damage. So on a whim I connected the sensor wires to another input on my ELk and VIOLA! IT is working again. I haven't tried reconnecting it back to the port it was on...

    Help trobleshooting Cartell vehicle probe

I have a Cartell vehicle probe under my driveway connected to my Elk M1. It has worked great for several years. I noticed a few weeks ago that it had stopped working. Around this time two things happened which may have started the problem: (1) Severe storms in the area with a lot of...

Pause in an Elk then clause?

That would have taken me a while to figure out on my own :) Many thanks!! Mike

Pause in an Elk then clause?

Pardon for such a simple question, but what is the best way to insert a delay between commands in the then clause of an Elk rule? The only way I can think of is to have it "speak silence" for a brief period, but that seems quite a kludge. TIA Mike

    Help with Insteon troubleshooting, please

I did not realize that but as I think about it harder it makes sense. I seem to have resolved the problem. I was fixated on the problem being related to the outdoor wiring problem, but went ahead and took mtwalsh's suggestion and re-downloaded my Insteon tables from PH to the ELK and viola...

    Help with Insteon troubleshooting, please

I talked to the electician's office and supposedly they came and worked on the broken outdoor circuit last week. Something is still not right however, as the light in question still does not come on. I noted that they did have a GFI outlet on the circuit in a bell box before and it appears...

    Help with Insteon troubleshooting, please

Yes, I think they did, but am not certain. The outdoor circuit is still broken. They say they are going to have to trench and run a new wire which they have not gotten around to yet. They are not finished, so yes there are loose wires at present. Yes. Great suggestion. Tried it and it...

    Help with Insteon troubleshooting, please

Greetings. I have ~50 Insteon devices in my home and have had good performance since installation last May. I have two PowerLinc controllers (PLCs), one on a PC running PH and one on an Elk. The Elk has been merrily turning lights on and off for months. As of a few days ago, the reliability...

IR controllable blinds on a timer??

How do I get the Ocelot output to the room where the drapes are? Unortunately I did not pull any wires in advance, and pulling wires to it would be a challenge.
