Bedford, NH – HomeSeer Technologies announces the release of its new v2.4 web-enabled home automation software. The new software features direct support for Schlage’s new LiNK® line of Z-Wave enabled lever and deadbolt locksets. With direct support, locks may be monitored and controller remotely through HomeSeer without the need for the Schlage LiNK bridge gateway. Since HomeSeer supports the widest range of home automation technologies available, this allows the locks to be integrated into a much wider range of systems, including those not centered on Z-Wave.
Other new features include auto-detection of new Z-Wave hardware, support for the new Aeon Labs Z-Stick controller, native support for Z-Wave thermostats and support for Windows 7. For a complete list of other changes, please visit homeseer.com.

Since the cat is out of the bag now, it looks like SmartHome has started posting these new devices on their website, along with pricing and shipping details.
There is a short blurb on SmartHome's website explaining Dual-Band:
The dual-band interface sends and receives both powerline and radio frequency (RF) INSTEON signals, so it doubles as an Access Point. This makes it ideal for new INSTEON installs and if have or plan to use an RF-only INSTEON-compatible remote, thermostat, motion sensor and contact sensor.
Updated: SmartHome just posted the USB PowerLinc, on sale for $22.97. |

It looks like SmartHome is getting close to releasing a new 'dual-band' INSTEON plug-in dimmable lamp module (model # is 2457D2). It's basically an INSTEON LampLinc module (300W), which can also be used to bridge phases (similar to an INSTEON access point). Since this module hasn't been announced yet, no other information is available. I did include a copy of the Quick-Start guide which also includes a picture of the module.

HAI has announced improved support for the popular DSC PowerSeries security panels. The end result is that you can control the DSC panel via the OmniTouch 5.7e in-wall and OmniTouch 10p wireless touch screen. See below for the official press release.
Home Automation, Inc. (HAI), leading manufacturer of integrated security and home automation products has announced the improved integration between HAI's Lumina central lighting and home automation product line and Tyco's DSC PowerSeries security panels, allowing Touchscreen control and energy management.
With the award-winning integration (Best Security Product, Consumer Electronic Associations' TechHome Mark of Excellence Award) the Lumina or Lumina Pro can trigger events from the DSC security zones when they are opened or closed such as turning the foyer light on when the front door is open if it is dark. The Lumina or Lumina Pro can also trigger events when the DSC PowerSeries security panel goes into alarm such as turning on all inside and outside lights when a burglar or fire alarm is tripped.

As some of you might have heard by now, Russound has announced that they are aquiring the now defunct Colorado vNet company. Russound has officially announced the transaction, which will complete by the end of this month. It doesn't look like much will change right away. I found this interesting article about how a few guys at the University of Utah have figured out a way of seeing what's going on in a building/home by monitoring multiple RF signals. In this case, they focused on proving their theory using a 34-node ZigBee based network, with some real results. While this might not be practical yet, it makes you wonder if this could become a real issue once ZigBee hardware really takes off.

Domobec, the guys who are working on releasing a single gang touch screen based 'switch', has posted a new video (showing the unit installed in a single gang box). The video looks pretty good, but I hope the look of the final product will be 'cleaner'. 'Read more' to see the video.
