HAI's In Home Display HAI logoHAI just announced the 'In Home Display', a small portable device which allows you to monitor your energy usage and control various items such as your HVAC, pool pump, lighting and more.  The device is ZigBee based, and will be showedcased during the next Autovation event in Denver, Colorado (September 13th-16th).  See below for the press release which contains more details.

Home Automation, Inc. (HAI), leading manufacturer of integrated security and home automation products since 1985, announced the production of the In Home Display (IHD) as part of their Smart Grid Solutions product line.

The IHD allows utility customers to track their energy usage in chart or graph form based upon kwH used.  Screens are customizable to provide any type of energy awareness information that a customer may require, including carbon footprint data, total energy consumption, and comparative analysis with typical energy use.

The large graphic energy display changes color as energy prices or events change.  It can receive custom real-time messages from the utility company regarding billing, energy prices, and more.  There is an environmentally-friendly internal backup battery that allows for the IHD to be portable and can provide homeowner notification even after a power outage.

The IHD can control thermostats and adjust setpoints.  Additionally, it can control HAI’s Load Control Modules for items like pool pumps, water heaters, lighting and more.  The IHD can be set up to act as a ZigBee® Coordinator or Router depending upon the utility company’s desired topology.

“HAI is very excited to be the first company to bring to market an IHD with this much functionality.  Being able to see real time information about energy usage and controlling high usage devices inside the home such as air conditioners and hot water heaters on one easy to use, low cost display is an industry first,” said Thomas Pickral, Jr., HAI Director of Business Development.

HAI offers a full suite of products that cover any type of Home Area Network application including In Home Displays, Load Control Modules, and Programmable Communicating Thermostats that are designed to use the ZigBee Smart Energy, Sensus FlexNet, and are expandable for additional technologies.  These devices are designed for Time of Use, Duty Cycling, and Energy Awareness programs for utility companies interested in Smart Grid and tailoring load profiles for best use of assets.

HAI products are available through a worldwide network of Distributors and installing Dealers in over 80 countries. For more information on HAI, please visit http://smartgrid.homeauto.com or e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
