"Fox and Hound" wire tester recommendations

Keep in mind that all test equipment used for testing cable is designed to be used after the cables have been terminated. Any wire with more than 2 conductors will be a pita to test until terminated as I am sure you would want to test all conductors in a cable.

Terminating security sensors on 66 blocks

I have been in the telephone industry for 30 years and can say without a doubt that there is nothing wrong with using 66 blocks. I can't see security equipment being more sensitive that a T1 circuit or Ethernet. If your worried, they make cat5e certified 66 blocks. Please keep in mind that...

HomeSeer Releases 7" In-Wall LCD Touchscreen

I am a long time Homeseer user and love there products, but this product, in my opinion, is way to expensive for a 7" screen, especially in this economy. I wonder what the non introductory price is going to be?

    RFID

I have been using RFID (known as the CheaperRFID equipment) for about 18 months. This has been covered on the Homeseer BB in great detail. I have 3 40 meter transmitters. These devices have a range in the 300' distance with the proper antenna on the receiver. The transmitters use 2 cr2032...

Insteon - new users' experiences - mine's been pretty good

I have just about the same setup as IndyMike, except my house is only 2700 sq ft. I do have 2 filters in place, these were install when I was using X10 and never removed them when I converted to Insteon. I do have a coupler on my dryer outlet, again leftover from X10 days. I do have 2 access...

    The PERFECT lighting technology

I think all the "New technologies" got it all wrong. Anyone who is interested in Automating there home is going to need some sort of controller, weather it be a PC, or a deadicated controller. So why build all this functionality into each and every switch. A light switch just needs to be able...

    Camera Advice

I know that in the Northeast, you don't have to be an electrician to run low voltage cabling. Why not try a find someone with a low voltage license to do the work. They probably will charge alot less for there work. Usually a builder will use there own contractor to do the work and you are...
