What to do about hacked DVR? Cameras still usable?

I've read similar things on the internet. But, are you 10p% sure this is correct. Can you do it? I have zero knowledge of such things, so I cannot discern what's fact and fiction when it comes to this. I would like first hand knowledge from people who've had this happen or those who has the...

What to do about hacked DVR? Cameras still usable?

If my security camera NVR/DVR is hacked, what can the hacker do with it other than viewing the camera? Can the hacker insert malware into my router or computers attached to it? Thanks!

Do I need a static IP address to use isy994i with Elk and insteon

Ok, I think I got it. Some of the instruction videos I had viewed talked about setting up a static IP address but never mentioned a third party service (And yet I've heard of needing a third party to get static IP). I didn't realize there was the LAN static IP and WAN static IP. I am pretty sure...

Do I need a static IP address to use isy994i with Elk and insteon

I will be using the Elk M1XEP Ethernet port with my Elk Mk1 gold set up. I am a complete novice and as I understand (which in no way is complete yet), the Ethernet port will connect the ISY 994i which in turn will control Insteon lighting. This is done via LAN. For all of this to work well, do I...

Ok got it now. I did see the instruction on enrolling keypad addresses. Just the part about the first keypad being enrolled automatically threw me off. Thanks!

How to pick which keypad is enrolled automatically as the first keypad

I am using the m1dbh data bus hub. I have three keypads and I want one specific one to be the first keypad automatically enrolled upon power up. How does m1k pick which of the three will be keypad 1. Will it be the one hooked to terminal J1 of the data bus hub? Thanks!

    Connecting M1KPNAV keypad vis CAT6

Ok thanks. So if I don't want to use either of those two, could I just leave those wires unused inside the keypad?

    Connecting M1KPNAV keypad vis CAT6

The keypad plugin cable has 6 wires. What exactly is the use for the blue and brown wire?   The instruction says the brown wire can be used for the 'Optional Programmable output from keypad'.....I am an extreme novice, exactly what does this mean?   The instruction says the blue wire is for the...

How to connect The elk p212s power supply to the M1DBH Data bus hub

The instructions that came with the p212s only has instructions to connect it to the M1 main board's 4-wire data bus. But, I am using the M1DBH data bus and there are no instruction to connect it to that. Couldn't I do that?   Is it the same as that of keypads? Red to brown, Black to Wht/Brn...

What kind of wire for the elk battery, ac module/transformer

Thanks! Page 10 says to use 16 to 18 gauge minimum wire for the transformer. I should have looked it up. I now see the battery leads attached to the m1 board too. I should have looked at these more carefully before posting this question. Thank you!

What kind of wire for the elk battery, ac module/transformer

I think almost all of the elk components I got came with the wires for installation. The battery and the ac module/transformer didn't come with it. What kind of wire do I need for this? And how do I cover/seal the connection so there is no exposed wire at the joint? Thanks!

Please check this list I am getting for the Elk/isy994i/insteon system for my home

Update: I got the m1k gold kit two days ago. It already has the M1XEP Ethernet interface, so I don't need an additional one (line item 2), So I am returning that. Now I have everything I need to install the system. I will start the process at the end of this month. I am relying on this boards...

what size screw to install a flush mount speaker to the KP2 keypad flushmount

I am using the extra two CAT 6 wires I won't need for the M1KP2 keypad for the SP12F speaker. I also got the flush mount backbox for the keypad and I see a place to mount the speaker. What size screws do I need to install these. The kit didn't come with it.   Thanks!
