Hi All,
I've been out of the HA for a while. What HA I had was working and life/kids took over all my time.
Now with iOS 10 breaking Elve Mobile I am something forced to get back into this.
My current setup:
- ELK M1
- ALC and UPB Lighting
- Aprilaire T-Stats
- Nuvo Essentia Whole House...
My current setup is:
- Lighting OnQ ALC and UPB
- ELK M1
- Aprilaire 8870 for Thermostats
- Rain8 for irrigation
- Nuvo for whole house audio
ELK cannot interact with all of this, or at least not sufficiently easy. So I used CQC initially, then switched to Elve for the user interface and...
I started with HA about 6 or 7 years ago. I used CQC, then Dean hang it up for a while.
I switched to Elve...got some automation going, had kids and have been using it but not developing functions for the last few years.
I'm replacing my home server (server hardware on 7 years now and parts...
For a new home I had the ground floor pre-wired for OnQ ALC (basically running Cat5 to the switch locations). It added cost to the electrician bill (not insignificantly, I think I recall $50 a run or so), the switches are expensive (upwards of $100) and connecting them up is a bit of work...
Any particular weapen that can be recommended? I am not a gun fan at all and would not have this in the nightstand. I don't believe in guns as a quick response situation. It would be somewhere safe with trigger lock. If unrest or issues start to occur these wont happen that fast that i can't...
I want to start of saying i'm not a doomsday kind of guy and i don't actually think the end is near or anything like that. However last year i spent 2 time a week withouth power and this has made me want to be better prepared for these kind and other kinds of disasters.
I consider this forum...
Hi Gents,
I recently got a Aprilaire Hudmifier model 400 installed (profesionally, as per manufacturers directions, manual mode). I also have APrilaire 8870 communicating thermostats and an Aprilaire humidity sensor model 8062 ...
What are you priorities? What functionality do you want first?
You mentioned an existing alarm...are the wires labelled? Look in door and window sills to see if there are recessed sensors. It's possible the previous owners had an alarm and took it with them..or perhaps the house was only...
Just did a little calling around..apparently an inverter based generator costs like 3x as much as a regular..so i think i'll cross that off the list of requirements...guess i'll have to keep some non UPB based lights around.. :)
I have an Aprilaire 8870 and they sell (a remote humdity and temparture sense for it). I don't know if ELK knows how to deal with it. The serial protocol certainly handles it and Elve can talk to it properly.
So the generator i have now is a Brigs&Stratton 5500 which seems like a pretty basic unit. I am borrowing it from somebody but I'll need to buy my own some point soon.
I am concerned about the quality of the power and would like something with an inverter, but the Honda units seem very...
