ARM Developers’ Conference, Santa Clara, CA – October 4, 2006 – ControlThink and Z-Wave developer Zensys today announced the new Z-Wave Micro Software Development Kit (SDK), which provides manufacturers with another way to connect everyday devices using Z-Wave home control technology, simultaneously reducing development costs and time-to-market.

“The development of the Z-Wave Micro SDK further fuels the adoption of Z-Wave technology by manufacturers of household devices,†said Tony Shakib, CEO of Zensys. “Given the number of developers already programming with the Microsoft .NET framework, this new product continues to open the door for establishing Z-Wave as the standard in wireless home control by providing a low-risk solution for manufacturers interested in expanding into the home control market.â€

The Z-Wave Micro SDK reduces development risk and accelerates time to market in the following ways:
  • Rapid prototyping of connected devices: create proofs of concept and prototypes on your PC in just hours or days,
  • Easy debugging: utilize integrated Visual Studio environment for interactive, real-time debugging,
  • Broad range of design options: use the .NET Micro Framework on a variety of processors. Solutions can scale from a few hundred KB of memory to many MB of memory for more feature-filled devices,
  • Large pool of software developers: choose from millions of developers already programming with the .NET Framework,
  • Fast track to Z-Wave certification: focus on creating the functionality of your device and let the Z-Wave Micro SDK take care of many Z-Wave certification requirements automatically,
  • Reusable code: create solutions with the Micro SDK and reuse them on other devices, or even in PC software applications.
“The .NET Micro Framework is perfect for creating consumer products such as remote controls, thermostats and wearable devices, and we are pleased that the Z-Wave Mirco SDK will further help developers build managed applications for these devices on the .NET Micro Framework†said Colin Miller, Director, Microsoft .NET Micro Framework.

ControlThink is demonstrating the Z-Wave Micro SDK in the Microsoft booth at the ARM Developers' Conference, taking place October 3-5 in Santa Clara, CA.
