Elk M1G monitoring service with AlarmRelay.com includes DDNS setup?

I have a new Elk M1G with a M1XEP which is connected via cat6 to the keypad and router. I dont have a POTS line so I am planning on having AlarmRelay.com monitoring the service.

Do they setup the DDNS service or do I have to do it on my end or is the setup part of their service?
I did sign up with DynDNS.com but instead of the pro ($20/yr) I signed up for standard ($30/yr) plan. I havent configured anything on DynDNS.com yet and my client updater will be installed on my router.
 
What are you going to do when your ISP has a power outage? That's the problem I have here... even though I have battery backup and generators on all my lan equipment, my ISP has pole mounted repeaters that quit during power outage. No power, no notifications...
 
The free DDNS services typically expire if not logged in for 30 days or if the modem/router doesn't cycle once in 30 days then the update client has no activity.
I'm not sure if noip.org has the same policy but typically the free services have that limitation.

I'm not even clear on DynDNS' new free account policy so I get my notification reminder every 30 days to log into my account just to be safe.
 
I've found that a lot of routers, even with the "check in every 30 days" option set, don't. For that reason, I use their client app on a windows computer in my house and it works flawlessly. I actually run it (and a whole bunch of other things) on my MediaSmart Windows Home Server (it's a headless server from HP purpose-built for WHS).
 
So client updater on a router doesn't work? Maybe there are certain types of routers in that category, ill have to check.
 
Yeah - I love netgear for reliable SOHO routers, but the DDNS has never updated reliably for me if I'm using an ISP that almost never changes IP. Even with the "every 30 days checkin" selected, I was still getting warnings all the time about impending expiration. With the windows updater I've never had an issue.
 
I used no-ip on a tomato flashed router.

It forces auto updates every 24hrs.

Works fine for me for the past many years
 
I decided to pay...for some reason. TZO.Net was $90 for 5 years. This way I get bitching rights when it doesn't work.

So far so good.

Actually, I did this myself also! I don't have to worry about logging into a website to keep the account active and it works directly with my older Linksys router. :)
 
I think the activity has a lot to do with how often your ISP re-ips (assuming you aren't static). I have my ddwrt router reboot once a week and I have not had an issue in years with dyndns.
