ELK M1 Keypad backlight question

hi all,
quick question on ELK M1 keypad backlight. I want to keep the armed (the red light) on when system is armed, but turn all other light off after 60 seconds if inactive. There does not seem to be an option to do just that. Or there is?

Another related keypad back light question:

Can the back light levels be adjusted with rules on the M1? I didn't see any way. Also searched and turned up nothing.

My thought is a "sunrise set to X and sunset set to 0" scenario.

Thanks

Thanks for confirming. Bummer. This would be a good feature to add for bedroom keypads. Lights on during the day so that status and outdoor temp can be seen from a far, light off at night so that people can sleep. I already have "sun" of a night light (Insteon KeypadLinc) so I don't want to add any more.

I had the same idea with a KP in my own house and for a customer's install, base the b/l off the TOD or similar, but alas, not to be had.

I did, however, notice that the KP does show the display with the level set at 0, but I don't have the time or energy to do any further circuit bending....would rather wait for a firmware or hardware change when it comes.

A keypad in the bedroom is pointless if you can't see the status at a glance. Would be nice if you had more granular control - but in my case, I just didn't give the wife a choice, so she had nothing to complain about.

Put in a request to Elk, they have added stuff I requested before. It takes a year or so but there is hope... (if it's possible)

A keypad in the bedroom that you have to get up to look at is FAR better than a keypad near a point of entry where someone is breaking in.

Would the Navigator KP solve this problem? How well would it work?

The navigator is what I am using but I didn't see the option for any of the keypads.

I may do this as I feel it would be beneficial to more than just me.

I may have missed it in another thread (i.e. I've read all of the Navigator threads but can't recall specifics), but are you generally pleased with the Navigator function in the MBR location? Any shortcomings, like brightness or chime config (don't know if it chimes, I plan for a speaker behind it or nearby).

So far so good. I don't have chime enabled so I can't comment on that yet. At first glance I thought it was a bit small but it is just big enough. Check the size in the specs and it think you'll be surprised. It definitely appears bigger in the marketing and on the website. Maybe it's just me, I don't know.

I currently have the back light set to 0 so it's off all of the time until you touch it, then it wakes up. It's a minor inconvenience for daytime operation at a glance like viewing the temperature text on the display.

Make sure you investigate the speaker mounting. I don't think a speaker can be cut in to the back plate like the other KP's with the speaker knockout. It is made to mount in a single gang "new work" box mounted sideways. Old work boxes can't be used because the lip on the box will make the NAV stand off the wall and the box ring would be visible. (per the instructions) I didn't try it.

It was relatively easy to install AND the wife likes it. That's worth its weight in gold.
