Elk M1G wont arm in Stay mode

I just installed a new Elk M1 but it refuses to arm in 'Stay' mode unless all interior zones (zone type 4) as well as exterior zones are secure. Is there any way to configure the alarm to allow arming in stay mode without running around the house to close all closet doors or doing a system wide bypass of open zones?

I used to have a 1990s vintage Elk and it allowed this sort of arming so I'm wondering if I have a global such as 'Refuse to arm if irrelevant zones violated' set. Of course I couldn't find a global setting with that title:)

thanks for any help you can offer

I'm not sure what kind of zones you have; typically the "Interior" zones would be pressure pads or motion sensors - so it's easy enough to get them secure before arming. If you're using windows in that fashion, I don't think that's typical.

I know you could enable Force Armable - it means when you arm you'll have to arm with a code - or use a function button instead of the normal Arm Stay button - but it'd let you arm ignoring these zones.

Thanks for the reply.

All of my interior zones are magnetic switches on closet and cabinet doors. I have cats and long ago gave up on motion sensors due to the difficulty of adjusting them such that I can be guaranteed that a cat wont set them off.

I might be remembering this incorrectly, but I believe my old 1990s Elk allowed setting the alarm for 'Stay' even if there were violated interior zones. And even the Elk M1G lets you violate those zones right after you arm it in stay mode. It just seems there ought to be a way to get the M1G armed without having to secure all of those zones that it wont be monitoring.

I think you're thinking of your old Moose panel. Elk hasn't been around as long, per se, but the engineers and owners used to be involved with Moose. 8)

If those points are being used as burglary zones, then set the attribute for force arm. You could also write a couple of rules to bypass interior zones and use that via a task or F-key.
