elk m1 board mounting

So my first question. I have a 28" elk panel that im trying to mount an elk serial/ethernet adapter to. The hole pattern is 1-15/16x3-5/8. Ive looked at the elk swp and swp3 which both appear not to fit this pattern. Any suggestions? Rails maybe. Im really supprised in looking at elks website that they dont have a techsheet that shows te mounting hole patterns on these plates and for each of their boards. Does anyone know of a good repository for mounting tips?

Options:

1) drill your own holes
2) use double sided sticky tape
3) use elk glides (mounts board perpendicularly)

I mount mine using the glides on one of the sides of the elk. There isn't much space there for anything else so it is a good use.

I took the white plastic box that the XEP comes in cut it down to just be slightly larger than the board and mounted the XEP to the side of the can using double sided tape. This location takes up almost no space in the can.

Sorry I should have mentioned I also took mine completely out of the box. Actually forgot it came in one :)

Seems odd that elk doesnt seem to have a "factory method" to mount this in the box... All ideas yall brought up seem to be good ones. I was wondering if there was a way to mount it perpendiculaly, now i know.

Mine is mounted on a regular SWP3, using 3 holes. Has been like this for years, and works just fine.

Self-tapping screws for anything that doesn't fit neatly, where you want it. In effect, all manufacturers' mounting plates are compatible with all others' enclosures. ;)

Tape over exposed RJ45 ports before you drill/screw, tiny metal shavings.

I've seen some people here use 'standoffs', to help with cable management.

I'm not a big fan of mounting devices sideways in the panel using the glides.

We used the SWP3s to mount the XEP in the can. To do this, we drilled four holes in a separate piece of metal where the four interior corners of the SWP3 are. Then we used the nylon standoffs to secure the XEP to the metal plate, squishing the SWP3 between them, thus mounting the XEP on the SWP3 in a clean perfectly aligned fashion.

If anyone is interested I can find a camera around here and post a picture.

Arts and Crafts time. I used this idea but I made my own standoffs using left over plastic ice maker tubing. Cut to length, slip over screw add snug fitting washer.

I've always used the SWG's in the 28" can, you just need to make sure you stress-relieve the wiring so it's not pulling down.
