Simple keypad question

Does the little speaker in the KP1 keypad do any voice announcements, or does that require a speaker hooked up to output 2. Since I'm asking, it means that I'm not hearing anything but "beeps" from the keypad speaker.

But...I'm making progress.

Thanks,
Ira

Thanks. Guess I need to scrounge around for a speaker to use while bench testing.

The backbox for the KP2 has a mounting hole for a speaker. Just buy one of the flushmount speakers, pry the speaker out of it, and whack it into the backbox with 4 screws.

The backbox(s) for the KP2 was designed to use the ELK SP12 speaker. In comes with a single gang plastic plate, but just break the plastic plate off and use the speaker behind the keypad. It is 32 ohms so you can put up to 8 speakers in parallel without overloading the audio amp with is Output 1 for voice and siren.

I'm using all KP1's. Is there a similar solution for that keypad? It already has a speaker in it. What would happen if the two spare conductors in the cat5e cable were attached to the keypad speaker on one end and the M1G speaker output terminals on the other end?

Thanks,
Ira
