Leviton Z-wave control?

I'm trying to find more information on ELK-M1XZW and how it controls Leviton z-wave devices?
Does it support bi-directional communication?
Can the ELK-M1XZW enroll z-wave devices or is another controller needed?
Does ELK work with ControlThink?

Thanks,

The ELK-M1XZW M1 Z-Wave Interface acts as a secondary controller which means you will need another controller(primary) to add your devices to and transfer/copy to the ELK-M1XZW. As far as I am aware and read the Elk does not support instant status. From the Installation Manual:

"The ELK-M1XZW incorporates a Z-Wave factory produced transceiver module and currently supportslighting and thermostat device categories ONLY. The current generation of Z-Wave devices do not broadcast or update state changes back to any controller device other than the one that commanded the change. The results are that the M1 may not always accurately display the true state of the Z-Wave lighting devices. In addition, a M1 rule ’event’ cannot be activated by the state change of a Z-Wave light other than lights changed by a command from the M1 itself. In other words; The ELK-M1XZW and the M1 Control do not know if the state of a device has been changed by another controller such as a handheld remote. Likewise, another controller or a handheld remote will not know if the device state has been changed by the M1 and M1XZW. This is a Z-Wave issue and it is hoped that Z-Wave will remedy this in the future."

ThinkEssentials 2.1 Pro works with ELK if you add the VRCOP-1LW it will get status updates.

Thanks InToZ-Wave. I did not realize that ELK worked with VRCOP-1LW. Then I would not need the ELK-M1XZW M1 Z-Wave Interface.

is there official support on the Elk for the Vizia RF RZC0P interface using johnny9's software (for setup) yet? i thought there was. shouldn't be a need to interface with a software package like ThinkEssentials.

The M1 can work directly with the Vizia RZCOP using the M1XSP serial port expander interface as a secondary controller.

There is a M1XSP software download to configure the M1XSP to interface with the RZCOP.

I recently upgraded from the Elk z-wave controller to the Leviton serial interface with the M1Gold. I was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem that I am experiencing. When I set up a rule to turn on a light with a motion detector for a set duration of time, the light turns on like it is supposed to, but it will not turn back off. The same rule worked perfectly with the Elk Z-Wave controller.
